Yeah, pretty dern busy. I've already started counting down the weeks till semester's end >.>

Bored? You don't have any conventions or new outfits coming up?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2012-03-22 18:23:07 +0000 UTC]

Wah, hahaha! you just started and yet you´re counting xD poor dear.

Oh, I have a question: is there any possibility to get a hanbok which is made of wool? cause I just can find hanbok made of synthetic/silk. But I really like the hanbok made for "lowly" persons. [link]

No, there is no convention :/ but I have a few new outfits. But no chance to wear them cause there is no occasion. buuuuuut I show you xD

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2012-03-27 05:11:18 +0000 UTC]

Sorry this is so late! Busy. So-freakin'-busy. xD

I'll ask everyone I know around here about where to find a wool/cotton hanbok. I'm sure you can get them somewhere here in the little ROK. Might take a week or so just because things are crazy. If I don't answer- please just bother me again, ok?

oooo, I love tat second one. But I just love oranges and reds <3 Maybe I should post my yukata pics on here sometime. o.O Maybe I did?

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2012-03-27 11:18:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh, please don´t hurry.^^

Ah, thank you! Maybe if you go there, you can ask if they have a online-shop/store. Or if I can make an order and they ship it to Germany. ^^*
Ok, I will do so. xD I´m also busy so I understand very well.

Yes, I love the second too <3 Also this is the first kimono my boyfriend also likes xD
Oh, please do it! I want to see you in a Yukata

Thank you!^^

I´ll also get some other stuff for my hanbok-style xD The seller is a really kind person and very helpful. She gave me some tips for dressing and styling.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-11-18 09:25:25 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I didn't know there were hanbok accessories. Unlike Japan and yukata, most koreans don't wear hanbok. . . ever. xD I mean, as a kid they might, or some people in stores will wear them for the Chuseok holiday, but it's nothing like all the yukata you see in Japan during the summer!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-11-18 09:39:20 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I think this is sad...because the traditional clothes in Korea are so adorable and well suited for korean people. :/ But yes, there are a lot of accessoirs for hanbok, caps, hairpins, wigs, handbags, shoes, socks, vests and so on. I´m very into it xD *ahahaha*

I bought this one! xD but I would be happy if you can give some impressions later. Oh, and maybe you can find out how they get their hanbok-skirts so fluffy. I wonder how?_?

^^ this would be nice How are you these days? I´m at work at the moment ^^* I´m so excited about arrival of my hanbok <3 thehehe :3

I also planned on take a trip to Seoul next year. Till then I have to save money ^^* Really hart, thought. .__.
But I really want to see this city. And maybe I will have more time there and can visit the area around the big city.

How long will you stay in Korea? Or are you definitely be hired by your company and work there "forever"? Is English very useful there? Cause in Japan I had a lot of problems with no one could speak English Ö_ö

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-10-28 13:49:52 +0000 UTC]

lol. I'm doing very good actually. Finally getting settled in and trying to get into a little bit of a routine. Midterms were this week and that was quite busy. >.>

Let me know if you come to Seoul! I can try to take you around. ^^ I don't know much of Seoul, but I can at least direct you to good kinds of food and such!

I'm in Korea for at least two years. I will be with this university for at least a year and then I'll be looking at bigger universities after this year is up.

I'm surprised you had trouble with English in Japan. I found that while most people don't "speak" English, they enough simple words for requests. . .Korea is the same. English is needed for university entrance exams and it is considered to be VERY important for career development. But it is rarely spoken "in the real world" of Korea. People here know enough words (sign, hot, cold, sugar, etc) for me to survive ok here with no Korean.

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-10-28 14:20:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know. These days I also had a lot of stress...so busy before Christmas...xD

I definetly will do so Then I can be shure not to get lost as well xD And maybe you can show me a lot of nice hanbok-shops

Wow, 2 years. I really envy you. I´m not able to go to Korea or Japan. Everything is way too expensive. It starts with the flight. But at the moment I´m working at a law firm and can save some money. So I sure will travel to these countrys again. And maybe I´ll stay a longer time there. <3

Uhm, no...if I asked someone in english to help me...all of them seems to doesn´t understand me. Just a headshaking...and I asked young school girls and students. But no one understand me ;__; maybe my english is really that bad?!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-10-30 05:42:48 +0000 UTC]

Don't envy me. You get to travel around and buy kimonos and go to conventions- so you have it going on too, hun. You could always try the teaching English approach too. I know that Korea has started opening up to non-inner circle countries lately.

lol, the head shaking. I get that too. But worse is when some one speaks Korean to me, I shake my head and in Korean, i say "Sorry, I don't speak Korean". . . . .and they continue to speak Korean to me. -.-* I doubt your English is that bad- people are sometimes just to nervous to even try. I spoke some Japanese so maybe they just felt more comfortable trying to speak.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-11-08 09:25:01 +0000 UTC]

Uhm, I just travel around once Ö_ö and I have to say, how older I get...I don´t like conventions anymore. :/ I visited the Japan-Day in Duesseldorf/Germany and it was horrible. I expected tradional shops, typical japanese crafts and so on. But there were thousand of youngsters who just dresses like Naruto ans co. And they weren´t very interested in Japan but in just Anime/Manga and Lolita I was very dissapointed. But how ever xD I´m getting too old. *lol*

At the moment I start korean lessons. *__* And I started with Taiko <3

How are you? Are you getting better?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-11-09 05:10:31 +0000 UTC]

I've come realize that I hate Otaku. -.- I hate the "i know everything about Japan-desu" stuff. Drives me nutters. I've been there and can confirm- Japan is not god's gift to man. xD So no, I don't think you are getting too old, you just don't appreciate a rather brainwashed and hyper crowd of dingdongs. xD

Ack!! You are going to know more Korea than me soon! D: Maybe you could help me or point me to good ways to study. ^^

Yes, I'm feeling much better, thank you for asking. What about you? Did your hanbok come in yet?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-11-09 07:53:13 +0000 UTC]

yeah...otaku -.- crazy litte screaming girls and boys. *singh* Maybe it´s not god´s gift to man but it is way better than Germany :/ I think you´re right. Everytime I want to have a nice day and want to get to know more about Japan there are always these stupid brainwashed crowds around and cut the good mood into parts -.-* And then they tell you this is normal and you haven´t gone to such a convention if you don´t like the atmosphere >.< *argh* Drives me crazy.

hehe, I try my best but Korean lessons are very rare in Germany So I will learn very slow.

I´m very busy at work. But I´m ok
No, my hanbok didn´t arrive till now. But it is a very long way to Germany and it was shipped last week. I think it will take 3 or 4 weeks to arrive. ^^* I have to be patient.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-11-17 22:16:49 +0000 UTC]

LOL- no I was with a mainly guy group last time, and they couldn't stand it. In fact. . .I'm not sure if my husband will ever agree to go again! xD I usually just pop in headphones and cruise by myself or go with friends.

Either way, let me know how it goes. I'd be interested in hearing about your learning techniques!

and jobs. . . yeah, seems to be the busy time of year for everyone. I hope yours isn't pushing you too hard before the holidays.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-11-18 00:44:21 +0000 UTC]

^^ your husband? wow...how old are you? I thought you were younger than me, but now?! yeah, my boyfriend also don´t ike it. I always went on my own *hehe*^^

Ok, I will do so. But my best way to learn modern and usual talking is by watching the korean dramas. I´m so into it <3 So much more heart and feelings than in german soaps and dramas ._.

No, it´s ok. I like my job^^ So I´m used to it. And for sure holidays are coming. I´m so excited! Visiting my famaly will be fine *__*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-11-18 09:27:33 +0000 UTC]

lol- I'm 27. I just act like a kid.

Yeah. . . I can't watch Korean shows. >.> They are way too slow, fake, and over dramatic. Everyone has so much make up and plastic surgery, the characters are always so rich and perfect. . .ugg. What are german shows like? Do you have a good one you could suggest for me?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-11-18 09:44:27 +0000 UTC]

Oh, do you think so? I love korean drama. I thought they´re more realistic than japanese ones xD Different tastes xD

But I love the cute perfect look of the korean actor/actress very much^^

Uhm...german shows? no, I can´t suggest you one of them xD The most known should be "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" (very old and bad Ö_ö) or "Verliebt in Berlin". But I really don´t like all of them. I think german actor/acress are the worst ^^*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-11-22 04:21:38 +0000 UTC]

lol. I guess. I find them too boring and unrealistic actually. Well unrealistic compared to American shows. I just find that everyone looks too perfect and rich in Korean dramas and that bothers me. . . partially because of all the personal image issues here.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-11-22 19:56:24 +0000 UTC]

hmm, maybe. But I don´t like american shows. I think they´re boring xD
Between...is it really this big issue about personal image? I thought this WAS...but I never thought it is still like this.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-11-23 09:08:12 +0000 UTC]

lol. Eh, to each there own. I like a lot of geek shows from America and Britain. ^^

And yeah. . .it is a very big problem. Woman here wear makeup with bleach to whiten their faces (one of the western teachers here accidentally bought one with "whitening" and bleach-blotched patches on her face!) Plastic surgery is also VERY common here with the most common practices being procedures to widen the eyes, give an eye fold, raise the nose bridge, and chin bone reduction. Even the girl who took my picture said that I have a cute city face, when I gave her a compliment in return she said that she was not pretty, she just had eye surgery to help fix herself. . . there is a small movement to combat this, but the perfectionist media and advertising is just so prevalent that it's like fighting a tidal wave.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-11-30 09:46:32 +0000 UTC]

hm, this is sad if it is this way in Korea. Cause it has a lot of good sides. And such a beautyful culture. But I think it´s the same with Japan. Maybe cause they think they look all the same? This reminds me of the ganguro-style xD Do you know? personally I don´t like it but it´s a good way to protest Better than surgery. Ö_ö
Yeah, european people are very popular for asians. We just don´t look alike xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-12-01 11:34:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it really freaks me out how common it is. I'll post a link when I finish my collection of plastic surgery adverts. . .my most recent one was transparent x-rays of women's skulls showing where alterations are made. >.< It really puts me off to the whole perfectionist look culture.

Yeah, I know Ganguro. I saw one in Tokyo once. Got all excited because I thought it was a fellow westerner. . . . nope! Surprise!

And yup, I think we all look very different. But my Korean friend thinks we all look the same and it made teaching in the US hard for her first year!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-12-01 13:09:23 +0000 UTC]

I think it is sad cause I really like the way asian people look. But isn´t it always the same: we like what we don´t have .__.

I think it´s...special. But I also don´t really like the lolita-hype. So, let them do. x3

Hey! I started my taiko-lessons <3 So happy. Soon I want to buy my own taiko. I´m so excited. *__*

Wow. This is the first time I hear that asian people think we european people look alike Ö_ö Also my japanese friend told me, he loves the way we are all very special and not alike ö_Ö such different thoughts. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-12-03 13:02:15 +0000 UTC]

What's Taiko?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-12-04 05:54:44 +0000 UTC]

oh, in nearly every big city like Frankfurt am Main. I just live 30min away from there.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-12-05 04:47:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think it would have required a 3 hour drive to find any Taiko lessons in my hometown back in the States. But things are a lot more spread out there. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-12-05 08:11:46 +0000 UTC]

yes, of course. But on the other hand I would drive about 3 hours if I want to learn japanese But budo-sports are spread everywhere. Just around my hometown there is taiko, kendo, iato, ... and also from other countrys like wing tsun, kung fu, tai chi, ... but with languages it is hard to find in the near citys

roxzci In reply to IchigoDustfinger [2011-12-06 04:27:55 +0000 UTC]

Interesting. . .I think there are a growing number of universities in America offering Japanese and Chinese. Used to be just German, French, Spanish, and Latin. But At my last Uni we had Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic. They also used to have Russian, Italian, Portuguese, and Greek. But that's just Unis, not Language Institutes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IchigoDustfinger In reply to roxzci [2011-12-06 07:36:19 +0000 UTC]

yes, it´s the same here. at the Uni they sometimes offer Japanese, Korean, Chinese and others. But just for those who really studing at this Uni. :/ Bad luck for me. And at the top my korean lessons stoped cause there weren´t enough interests and not enough who want to learn. ;__;
