No problem
Yeah, that's true! It feels a bit like that for me too. It's a wee bit hard to keep in touch with folk given time difference... and of course you guys are very busy with uni, and I don't always have a brilliant internet connection when travelling. I manage to skype Si every now and then, but yeah... I feel a bit out of the loop with what's going on back in NZland!
Good good... I'm back in Munich right now, Oktober Fest starts on Saturday I'm not sure how I'm going to find that since obviously I don't drink, or particularly like drunk people... But hopefully there is a nice, celebratory atmosphere rather than a drunken one. Can you believe it goes for 3 weeks? That's a lot of drinking people do! But yeah... Oh and the other exchange student from NZ has arrived now, we met up last night, which was cool! It's so strange hearing a New Zealand accent now, hahaha!Β
And how are you?

I'm alright, a bit bogged down with work, and now and then in my breaks I reflect how little I've seen anyone. It's probably close to 2 months since I had an actual face to face conversation with Caitlin, and she's one of my closer friends... hopefully we'll remedy that when we're in Auckland together . I hope you enjoy Oktober Fest, as I believe many students surrounding me would remove a limb or two to be in your shoes.
Haha, yeah, I was gone for two weeks, and met some on the train, and I didn't recognize the accent I thought it was Australian, it was so strong!

Uni sucks in that it means you can't spend time with folk. I get really sad sometimes because I keep thinking that that summer before uni started was really the last summer we all spent decent amount of time together... and it may always be like that, since after uni finishes it's not like everyone is going to go back to Christchurch (I know I don't intend to...), and of course with work you get like no holidays anyway... ah well.Β
But yeah, when I get back from Germany I won't have seen Cookie for a year, because stupid Otago holidays keep not coinciding with UoA ones (I saw Hibi one afternoon so far this year since uni started... one afternoon -_-) and yeah, I don't get to talk to you guys all that much either, given my limited time in Chch... and this year I will have been in Germany more than New Zealand! I feel bad sometimes because I feel like the only person I keep in good, regular and decent contact with is Si... I mean, occasionally I'll catch Ren or someone on facebook, but still...
OH MAN OKTOBERFEST. What an experience haha. OK, I've only been once... (on the day it opened...) and it goes for 2 whole weeks, craaazy Well anyway, it is both good and bad... I'd probably enjoy it more if I actually liked beer, hahaha (I did share a MaΓ- seriously, they only sell 1L glasses... with two of my flatmates, and it was probably really good beer, but still... bleh, hahaha...) They have the tents, which are really hard to get into (we had to wait 3 hours and the security guards are scary and angry, and will push you and grab wee lassies like me and physically move me, which I did not find particularly pleasant... ) but have a pretty cool atmosphere inside with music, folk dancing on the benches and yeah... it was especially cool in the few minutes before 12, which was when they opened the first beer barrel. OMG people are sooo happy to get that Oktoberfest beer, hahaha The parading going on before the barrel opening was cool too The rest of the Wiesen is set up kinda like a fair ground, so you see all these wee kiddies in Lederhosen and Dirndl's too, which is weird because if NZ had a beer festival there would be no way anyone under 18 would be there, hahaha (it would probably have a completely different atmosphere in NZ anyway... I can imagine there would be problems, too). However, I think it would be really cool if they played music outside the tents and not just inside them, since obviously they're really hard to get into, and it would be cool if you had more of a street party vibe (although I guess they want people to have to drink beer in the tents or pay for the rides to not get bored, since that's how they make money...)
As with any drunken Fest though, there were bad points. A friend of one of my flatmate's got drunk, was dancing on the bench behind me and fell over, putting his entire weight on my head and neck. I'm not going to lie, that reeeeaaally hurt. One of the waiters spilled beer on my hair, and a girl sitting behind me leaned onto me (drunk strangers don't care about personal space, hahaha) and bled all over my hand She must have cut herself on her glass, or something... and when one of my flatmates was sick, the waiters got really angry, told him to get out and pay them β¬30, and roughly pushed the rest of us to the exit too... again, I don't really appreciate it when large men roughly pull me around. But yeah... Oktoberfest... such an experience, haha Β
Ohhh I hope you have lots of fun in Auckland! When are you going? I'm so sad I can't be there. I'm at the stage now where I'm ridiculously missing everyone, probably because it's been 2 months, and 2 months is about the maximum I've gone without seeing anyone from Chch so far...
Hmmm I can still tell the difference, but yeah, NZ accents sound soooo weird in Europe, haha.
Speaking of accents, did I tell you an American was convinced I'm from America? I was so confused, hahaha. I've never been there, and I still managed to fool a native?!?
