hmmm. i don't think i could narrow it down to one poet, but i adore sara teasdale, and the wonderful =iPawed . my favourite poem ever ever ever ever ever(that's a lot of "ever"s!) is unequivocally "i am not yours" by sara teasdale, closely followed by "thirteen ways of looking at a blackbird" by wallace stevens, and "an irish airman foresees his death" by WB yeats.
music: i adore newton faulkner, andrew belle, keane, imagine dragons... but i'll really listen to virtually everything except rap and hip-hop ^^
movie: "once"
book: "the book thief"
aaaaand now it's your turn! (:

hmmmmmm... that sara teasdale poem was pretty good, i checked it out. my favourite poet would definitely be e e cummings - favourite poem would be his poem 'suppose' ([link] ). but i'll admit i haven't explored poetry nearly as much as i can or should, so my opinion on good poets is premature.
music wise, my favourite band is the middle east, a band that progressed slowly from prog-rock to folk and split up last year. close followers would be birdlips (awesome lyrics), the zutons, maybe jethro tull from time to time. you made a really common point about rap and hip-hop, i think some of the best ever lyrics can come from country and rap/hip hop. if you ever want to get into the genre i'd definitely recommend Eyedea ([link] ), there are some pretty awesome lyrics to be found there.
movie: "monsters"
book: "kafka on the shore" by haruki murakami (it's amazing please please read it) and "the eclipse of the century" by jan mark. the book thief was a fantastic book

Your poetry is a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing your talent.
Do you listen to "The Weakerthans" at all? The imagery employed in their lyrics always gets me thinking: [link]

thank you very much for this and the favourites/watch c: i'm glad you like it!
No, I have never heard of them. I do like the music and the lyrics though, that's certainly better than a lot out there. Lyric sharing time! A band I particularly like for their attention to how words sound together and what makes a good rhyme is Birdlips, it's a pretty much nomadic duo: [link] and [link] (the second track more than the first)
Wild Beasts can also be good lyrically in some of their songs, I particularly like Underbelly: [link]
Hope you enjoy those tracks.
