i'm debating on either the canon G2 or the powershot s40. I've used the s30 before, and I like it's size... very easily portable (the bloomin thing is the size of my cell phone!)...

buuuuuut I think the G2 would take a better shot, cause of the bigger optics... that flip-out screen is quite cool too, and the fact that you can add extra lenses is just fun.

the battery life sucks on both of them (but that's on all digicams)... if you're going out for a full day, get a spare, and get a compact flash USB card reader too. the canon software sucks, and it's slow... the G2 comes with photoshop 5.0LE too. get a big CF card too... like a 128 MB or 256 MB.

overall, I like the features on canon cameras... B&W, sepia tones, fstop controls and exposure lengths, etc all make for some very versatile equipment.

the 995 is a camera I highly recommend

It may be plastic, but its sturdy and had a good weight to it so its not flapping around in the breeze.

The image quality, and over all ability to "tweek" your shot settings is amazing, not only the ability to set the shutter speed and apature settings.

very big back for the bucks, i picked mine up for $515.00 off the net.

But im starting to get jealous of `en and his Nikon 5000.. OMG ThAT CAMERA IS SOOO AWESOME

Well I think that it was a beautiful illustration of a fictional scene.. so much effort was put into this that you cannot neglect it if you don't care for it. It's amazing and one of the best of its kind, no matter if it illustrates something you care for or not. Lets say for example, I make a picture of a cliff that you like as a subject but do a poor job doing it, would you label it as "like deviation"? Appriciate the artist, putting Dislike damages the overall approval rating. If you think it's good technically and illustrated well but you don't care for the subject, then I urge you, please put "No Vote". There's no point on saying its great great yet its not what you wanted to see so you put "Dislike".
