I saw your ask on tumblr (but I didn't see that you had an ask box.)

A lot of people say that Golden acrylics are the best paints. While they're expensive, they are pretty good. But if you're starting out and just want to use something cheap, Winsor & Newton has an inexpensive brand called Galleria and Liquitex also has basics and both are good.

I guess some tips would be NOT to draw on your canvas with a pencil, graphite etc. It's going to muddy up your paint. Try, instead, blocking in negative space shapes with paint and build up your painting from there. Then you can go back with a small paint brush for details. You generally start with not a lot of pigment and darker colors, and work your way getting lighter and thicker paint. Study color theory so you can know how to mix paints and things. Well, I guess that would be some advice... if you have questions, feel free to ask me. C:
