Dude, I've been translating some of the words on my dictionary page, even...not a native speaker. Eventually I gave up but compared it to ... well, what it refers to (wouldn't wanna spoil here), and then nearly pissed myself realizing that it fit indeed and how beautifully thou hath crafteth the nonsenth

I use photoshop, but I'd recommend using one you're just comfortable with. It's pretty easy to though try not to get wrapped up in what your using, it's an easy trap. A program doesn't make an artist

I'd do my research on them before hand since those programs can be intimidating at first so finding one that's good for you and sticking with it will probably be the best way to go. Some of the other bigger digital art programs would be Art Rage, Corel Painter and Illustrator but it all depends on what you want out of it. Art Rage and Corel Painter do more to imitate traditional mediums but have less in the way of manipulating images (chaining colours, moving things around, etc) like photoshop. Illustrator is a vector based program which is a fancy word for basically "use this for graphic design". None of this is absolute and you can do whatever the other programs specialise in different programs but it is harder to achieveΒ
