Oh man, I make so many mistakes... I'd waste so much paper/ink! I used to doodle in school in ink (though sometimes I would whip out a pencil), but it was never anything serious, just messing around.

lol that's okay. ^^ I prefer ink to pencil for one reason: no smear. lol but yeah the only thing, it's so hard to cover up mistakes. Messing around is fun.

Well, actually, my ink sometimes smears, which is annoying!!
But I do have better control over pencil, and usually better mistake fixing! (though I tend to press hard so it makes erasing and going over the old lines bad, esp if I'm shading cause that little groove is always visible once you erase!)

that groove thing sucks! lol i usually draw with pencil very lightly. like, the pencil hardly even touches the paper. i dont uise ink pens. i use this special gel type pen and it dries instantly,'s kinda cool. but it cost like $3. and to me, that's too much for a pen

I have too heavy a hand. Plus I always try to lay down the final line first. I don't do much actual sketching, which I think messes me up, but you know how hard it is to shake old habits and adopt new methods... I'm too set in my ways!!
The pen sounds cool. I used to get the micronpens, but then switched over to these almost fountain type pens, but they have a super fine pin-like point, rather than the triangular one. The only thing is that the metal sticks to the grooves and cracks in the paper (the nibs are that fine!) and they sometimes either leak too much ink or get stopped up.
I liked the felt ones but being felt if you pressed too hard the points would smash in and be unusable. I usually need to press hard to keep my hand from shaking and messing up (though it still does!)
I have really bad art habits/methods XP

lol i like fountain type pens. i used to have a tachikawa pen but yeah, i pressed too hard and messed up my paper... lol my hand doesnt shake really, i can hold it pretty steady. i like felt tip pens, but yeah, press too hard, and itss smash. lol too many times that happened. thats why i tried so hard to start drawing lighter. yeah old habits are hard to break, but im sure one day ull be fine! ^^

What's a tachikawa pen? I wanna try the copic markers but they're WAY too expensive for me to get for my drawing level/style

I think it's like 12 markers for $72 bucks or wsomething... maybe $100 something. It's ridiculous! And you probably need all the colors, adn there's like 4 of the bigger sets... if they're all $200 something that's too much money!!!
Ooh that looks like a nice pen!!! I wish I could get one with a sturdy metal nib, but preferably a ball point. The one I have now has a smaller needle inside the hollow big one and it just moves up and down to allow inkflow, not like a ballpoint at all.

heh yeah. copic markers are waaaay too expensive. yeah they're realy nice pens, they work nicly too. and they dry almost instantly! ^^

lol *sings "smooth" by: santana and rob thomas* ^^ yeah i know exactly what you mean! ^^ if a pen doesnt write smoothly, i dun wanna use it. im very picky when it comes to my pens, which is why half of the time, i use gel pens to ink my pics, butt he oly problem is that they take forever to dry and they smear easily. T_T

The ink pens are pretty good but like I said, the tips get caught in the grain of the paper.
Sometimes if too much ink comes out they'll smear, but in general if they're working properly the lines are so thin they dry quickly.
I'm thinking of using an extra smooth paper but that'll be expensive so I dunno. I feel bad though, changing pens again, cause they cost $20 a piece... XP

oh really? $20. that's a lot. smooth paper is nice. ^^ i prefer regular printer paper though. like manga paper? i have A4 i think, but anyways, it's too smooth for me... but i hope things go well for you
