May I ask you what you use to scan and get your oil paintings up here?
A) your work is stunning
B) It does not come out shiny and harsh like mine does..
Thank you so much

No problem... and thank you for the compliment.
-I photograph my paintings with a Digital SLR outside under indirect sunlight. The shiny look comes from the flash or artificial light bouncing off the sheen of the oil painting medium. I also photograph the painting before applying a varnish, which makes it even glossier.
-Hope that helps.

I would avoid scanning your paintings. The light from the scanner is going to refract and cause the harsh shine that you are referring to.

If on the other hand you don't have access to a high res digital cam, you might try scanning them with a thick piece of clear plastic or a thin one with a fine matte frosted finish between your work and the scanner surface - applying an even dispersed pressure over the back of the painting, say with a blanket and board setup(which is what I used a few times).
It will create a somewhat diffused look, but still manageable - and if you still get too many highlights, you can always use a highpass filter in PS to take out most of it - just enough to leave the highlights you painted.
And of course it helps to be able to adjust the scan settings while doing this, so you don't have to do much post work - although on larger formats it is difficult to match the two scans unless you can do it at least a half to a full inch inward from the scanner borders, so the lighting isn't affected by the edges of each scan.
Hope that helps!

I try to make some time, It is very hard I work part time. Doing house work take up my time. But I know I have to put little time in my painting everyday.

It is always a struggle to find the time to make artwork... but it will always work itself out if it is something that you are determined to pursue.

I do agree with you. I just only decide last year to spend time on my painting. Poh Ling Yeow is one of the artist that inspire me to start painting. Even all the art work in deviant art is so amazing that make me feel like I need to improve my art work even more.

I don't know why but I still feel weird having my art so "open". I also wanted to ask you what was the name of that old christian rock band that you had on your tunes. I think it started with a C.

Don't worry... as long as you are uploading "small" files there is little anyone can do but admire your work. Collective Soul is the group you are thinking of.
