I've always been around. Good job getting back into it, I'm kind of phasing out. =/ Hopefully this summer will give me some time to work again.

yeah it was fun playing with them the only problem is that they have some sharp milk teeth

I was wondering about that. Puppies are a pain as it is with their teeth.. I'm guessing a baby tiger's teeth are even worse lol. How come they aren't kept with their mother? Or are they just away from her part of the time?

the white ones mother rejected her, the others i think are away from their mom's, they also have to be raised by the workers or it will be hard to work with them when they get bigger and way 300 something pounds with paws that can break your bones even if it is a playful swat, also the tigers were on loan from india

Ah yes a 300 pound tiger does sound sort of terrifying lol. I hope they all stay happy and healthy though Do you get to play with baby animals often?

Hehe no prob I really enjoy looking at your art ^.^ Plus you're doing the same thing as meee... Semi-boring math in order to be a smart cookie about your future while you keep plotting to take over the world with art (I've had too much sugar today)
I really hope your dream to be a children's book illustrator comes true though. It seems like it would be such a fun and rewarding job

Haha, yeah. It is strikingly similar! But I don't even have my highschool diploma yet (six more days...!), so all of my talk is simply speculation so far. xD
Yeah... I've had to illustrate three books for my Spanish class, because she kept assigning that as a project. So I've had a little bit of experience and I've basically fallen in love. <3

Hehe *continues college commentation on here* You're far better off than most people I know for simply having a goal at your time in your school career. The vast majority of my friends didn't know what they want (and some still don't) so they're floundering around taking random classes that aren't summing up towards any specific degree or career and are wasting time and money. If you find out computer science doesn't work for you, then at least you didn't waste time in trying it and can move onto something better

I've been trying to figure out what I want to do for... the last 3 years or so. I have so many interests that it was hard to nail it down to just one major, but I like the little bit of programming I've done and I'm decent at math and my brother and dad both majored in that field and it's such a big area right now.
I plan to work through a Java programming book this summer and make certain it's something I really like. If I can get through the book and enjoy it, I can probably make it through a computer science major. At least, that's my idea? xD
If I can't make it in computer science, I think I'll pursue graphic design, since that's a also fairly big field (and something I'm interested in). (:

*condenses conversation to one place*
Music minor sounds interesting You play piano? I used to play clarinet competitively (in competitions and stuff) I miss it dearly
I was similar in my widespread interests all over the board. I didn't decide on engineering until the summer before my senior year. All my life I had been set on becoming a veterinarian. But after working with one, I was dreadfully bored. It was the same operations over and over again... and they don't get to spend much time with the animals themselves just the.. open animals on the operation table >.< So randomly one day I told my dad I wanted to build a bridge in Curacao (no idea where that came from) and he told me I had to be a civil engineer so here I am at a top engineering school o.O Life is funny, follow your gut feelings. I'm environmental engineering instead of civil now but that wasn't that big of a change but I get to deal more with the life sciences field which I ♥... So much chemistry @.@
And although I know at this point I'll be able to do well in the engineering field, like you I still want to pursue graphic design, even if just as a side project

I've been playing piano for going on 10 years, now. ^.^;; When I made my scholarship resume, I was like "....All of my awards are from piano and choir. .__.;;"
Oh wow. I'm glad you were able to evade a boring career!
That's... kind of funny, actually. xD;; My brother has been my role model since like forever. He got me into computers, he got me into anime, he encouraged me to draw, and it's completely his fault that I want to major in computer science. He makes it sound so fun~
I actually kind of like chemistry. When I found out why water dissolves stuff (polar BONDS omg) I actually squealed in the class room. And after the class, I went to the teacher and squeed over polar bonds for like 3 minutes. It was amazing. xD
And yes. I'm not actually certain I'd be good at graphic design, though - I'm more of an illustrator than a designer. If I took a few courses, maybe I could do it... but I'm not really into making graphics. I make more pictures than graphics. >.<;

Haha yeah on all of my applications I was like.. poo I never did that fancy science fair stuff I was too busy with track.. And I don't think Brown etc.. was interested in me being MVP of track & field xD (since no one cares about track & field)
If you like chemistry that much, I would still go for computer science but maybe take a few classes in chemistry see if your love grows? Getting just a degree in a life science field like chemistry can be difficult though for a career path later on. From what I've heard from other people, it's best to combine it with something else.
I feel like although I love graphic design and actually started out with that before I started illustrating, as a job it might get.. tedious because you have to do exactly what your client wants (and they can be OH so picky sometimes) I've done some design work and before and I almost strangled the people I was working for xD

Aww. I fail at all things athletic. xD;
Nah, there are other things I like more. It was just really exciting to see why something happened - I love knowing whys and hows. :3
See, that's what I'm best at. I've been doing commissions for people on Gaiaonline for... several years now, and I basically go through step by step when I make a breedable pet for them and say "Okay, what kind of ears do you want? And what kind of this, and what style, and oh look! Here's what you said you wanted, all done! Do we like this? No? Then let's change a couple things." I love that part. I hate coming up with brand new ideas all on my own and then just handing them over. I really liked it when one of my clients would actually critique my anatomical errors and ask me to fix them, and provide me with reference pictures even. That was an AMAZING client.

How does Gaia work.. I went and looked at it because I've heard several people mention it but it's confusing @.@ What's the point of it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Jupeboxgal In reply to temptryst [2008-06-02 14:22:40 +0000 UTC]
Gaiaonline has so many sublevels that it's hard to describe really how it works. o.o;
Basically, it's a forum community. People talk, earn gold by talking, buy items for their avatars, exchange items with other players, offer services, etc. The basic point of it is to make a pretty avatar by dressing it up with expensive items which you can only get if you can make something of your own and sell it, like a breedable pet or custom art. The richest people on Gaia are people who really know how to work the marketplace, people who have been there since forever, people with lots of real money which they can spend on Sealed Letters and then sell the letters for Gaia gold, and artists.

So if I like art should and stuff is it a good place to hangout? What's the average age of people there... and do they talk like nubs :K? I'm so old .-.

Mostly only if you like anime-styled art, though.
Think early teens? A lot of them speak decently, at least in the threads I used to frequent. You get the occasional n00b, yes, but most of them can actually type.
