Ack work and more work. Β Though with some vacation time. Β And I'm working on sewing a fluffy dress as a hobby. XDD

What kind of work? Good to hear you still take an interest in fluffy dresses! Have you ever sewed one before or is this your first? Do you do cosplays too?

It's my first time. XDD But I'm doing well with the hoops! Β I actually bought some steel wire at ACE hardware which is sturdy but not too heavy. Β The gown itself should have an attractive satin skirt and long puffed sleeved blouse with a v-neck when finished. Β I'm not really into historical detail btw I want to concentrate mainly on making the dress look attractive instead of accurate. Β Can also be danced around even if it's not strictly a ballgown. XDD

Haha well there's always a first for everything. Looks like you have a pretty solid idea on what you want! That sounds awesome! Are any WIP pics going up? Yeah, who needs history when you have a creative mind and as long as it looks good then by all means, destroy the rules of conformity! xD Woow dancing in poofy skirts sounds perf <3

It's going to be this 5 bone hoop: planxtafroggie.deviantart.com/⦠, covered in muslin and nylon ruffles like this beauty (also aiming for a similar shape; take a look at picture of the skirt being lifted, muslin madness!): www.gwtw4ever.com/lifesizeredw⦠; skirt will flow with this flowery white satin: planxtafroggie.deviantart.com/⦠, and arms and chest covered with contrasting polyester: planxtafroggie.deviantart.com/⦠.
The whole thing, even with those layers, should still be light and fluffy enough over all, and legs can still be dressed in either garters or dark stockings and heels, if you want to show them off underneath. (Sorry, can't provide the stockings or hairstyle... you would have to find a hairdresser or catalogue for that. >_> ).
Yes, history snobs and puff skirt haters will have to look elsewhere... also crossdresser lovers (who probably make up the second highest percentage of males on the net next to hardcore gamers XP ).

Wow you've got it covered! (literally - get it? Cause like, you're covering the bone hoop with...the fabri- nevermind lol) I'm excited to see the finished product! And yeah wow, I'm not a fashion designer or anything, but those two fabric patterns are defs contrasting! Your taste in dresses is totes fab! All those inspiration pics are gorg. xD
Haha so are you going to get a model to take pics with? Since clearly crossdressing is out of the question. xD

^^
That said, sewing the muslin in the hoop cage was a pain. >.> I did get it in eventually yet I still need slight adjustments before moving on. Β But hey, at least there's a slot now to insert a drawstring for tying around the waist. XDD
The hoop itself is flexible now too, and I gave it a few tests with the satin which hasn't been worked at yet but shapes over the cage into a perfect dome and there's lots of swish. ^^

Oh! So you actually have to sew the fabric into the hoop? I thought it was just like a cover thing like Charlotte's ball gown from Princess and the Frog. Ooh how exciting!
Flexible how? haha swish is the best.

I didn't HAVE to, but I felt doing so would make fitting into the petticoat easier without so much time putting on layers. Β The effect I'm going for though is to make the muslin flare out at the bottom, not just so the skirt is a dome shape but to give the skirt that soft billowing effect similar to the red and white Scarlett gown I showed you earlier.
And yes I want the wearer to be able to put any kind of dress over the petticoat and still be able to dance around as much as she wants (hence that's why the hoops are "flexible; they're steel but bound together by 12 elastic straps you can easily grab for spinning and twirling around. ^^ )
