It likes like over all you're doing pretty good, but it is kind of hard to see your ships with your current lighting rig. I don't know if you are using 3d Studio Max or not, but the tutorials on this site for clay renders might help you out. I use a very similar setup described in the mental ray one for most of my renders. Just some friendly advice. Keep up the good work though.
