Hey! I thought you were a very interesting person , and strangely your comments made sense somehow. I spent a while musing over them, haha. And after looking at some other entries for Odyssey, I agree that some were a lot more... artistic.
Anyway, I've been looking for some good writing... and I think you may enjoy this author. Edgar Allan Poe. His writing is deep and has tons of hidden layers and meanings, and I really enjoyed reading them.
[link] Here's the link to one of his short stories. I thought you might like it.
(Your gallery's amazing! I didn't get some of the art... or perhaps I'm just too 'shallow' to get them. I will re-visit this a few years later and I hope I will understand them then. )

Dude you are far from shallow. Your heart beats. It is refreshing to see someone with so much passion. Honestly I don't understand some of my work either sometimes but every once in a while something reveals itself. I love things that are raw and unedited because they hide secrets sometimes and they are unique. Its a mystery or quest. The thrill is not in finding the treasure but in the journey itself. You really made my day. Thank you
I live in Richmond VA now. The birth place of Edgar. We have a museum here dedicated to him. What an awesome recommendation. Thank you. I will check out the link. If you check out the Steve Allen Theater in Hollywood CA. Jeffrey Combs who starred in a cult horror film called REANIMATOR in the 80's and was also on Star Trek does a play called NEVERMORE. Poe was a horrible drunk and broke and he would do readings for quick cash. The play is basically is a portrayal of one of those drunken performances. I am sure it is posted somewhere on youtube. Its amazing and will give a full view of real Poe.
Also if you want to read someone else that is amazing...check out H.P.Lovecraft. I am still trying to wrap my head around his stuff but as I have gotten older more and more things have opened up. Thanks again. I appreciate your comments but don't ever hesitate to really let me have it...haha

Thanks, haha. I have a quick temper so I react to things unnecessarily without thinking...
Something I'd have to change. Anyway, I checked out H.P.Lovecraft... and I have to admit, the writing is amazing. I don't understand it completely, and I'm just basically reading it over and over again and trying to decipher what it means. I'm failing... but I can't stop re-reading it.
I hope you check out Poe's works. He has a very... unique voice, and his writing is very... the 'goosebump' type. And it great. He's one of my favorite authors.
It's awesome that you live in Richmond. I hope to visit there and visit Poe's museum someday.

There have been people who have spent their entire careers interpreting H.P.
"It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma" -Winston Churchill
Think of all the people still trying to figure out Shakespeare. I actually memorized the tell tale heart entirely when I was in high school for a class project. Craziness.

Dude. I read your reply about the Clive Barker contest and agree completely. When I checked the winning entry I was floored. I couldn't believe that a 400 word adverb infested passive voice description won! The guy focused more on swearing than plot; the story literally did not move forward. The first 200 words he's in his main hotel room talking about vomit colors then the second 200 words he's in the bathroom talking about vomit colors!
It makes me feel better that at least one other person feels the same way. Even if I didn't expect to win I thought my entry was a serious contender but it's hard to lose to that. I'm not going to enter again because I have no idea what they want.
I checked the guy's profile out and I seriously wonder if they decided on him because he's a doctoral candidate for English Lit.

Deviant art is an ass kissing colony. Its a joke. This has been happening forever. Its ACADEMICs versus ARTISTS. I've never seen a group of people stroke each other off like they do on this website. Don't get me wrong. I completely believe in encouraging my fellow artist. Be Positive.
Deviant Art is a vicious clique of these superficial people who are far to in love with themselves, each other and photoshop. Seriously get a room!
I worked in the film industry for over twenty years and I saw great talent get crushed by these same folks. People like this killed Mozart and many other artists. They are soulless fiends and frauds. If your stuff doesn't read like the mainstream or look like some flashy special effect abomination, its tossed.
People have stopped fighting for their imaginations. Vomit is a wonderful metaphor for this project because it represents a regurgitation of old ideas. Its not art that is dead. It is our souls.
There were so many really awesome entries. So many great ideas. There was some serious fire. They go with the old formula- same old shit- different day.
Dude the first thing everyone i know thought of was a RASH. Its CABIN FEVER 3

Academic versus artists is a great way to put it. It's clear you have much more experience with this sort of situation than myself and I enjoyed reading this because it's so accurate.
I'll check out your gallery and videos sometime in the future. Keeping in touch with a real artist would help me keep my own perspective.

Its great how people loose their shit on you for loosing your shit. I love double standards. I think the universe was created on them..... haha. This has seriously been the funniest night I have ever had on this site. Ridiculous. Haha.
