Hi! Great work as always! I'm having a go at modelling my own ships from scratch. Haven't done a texture for this yet nor have I modelled the impulse deck yet, but tell me what you think from a first glance. It's the Enterprise based off its appearance in Discovery:

Your engineering hull looks too cylindrical. Look at your references, It's closer to TMP in shape. The nacelles should be a little bigger at front and taper smaller toward the back. I'm actually scratchbuilding one in 1/650 scale.

Sorry if it's rude to ask, but do you take commissions by any chance on models?
π: 0 β©: 1
trekmodeler In reply to subspaceteatime [2016-10-14 03:27:30 +0000 UTC]
It's not rude at all. I'm currently not taking 3D commission work. If it is anything Trek related, I would like to wait after the Axanar/CBS court case to see if fans like me will be able to continue creating paid Trek work.

Oh okay, that makes sense. I had a Trek-related idea, but I also have an original idea as well that I've been looking to model. Though you're not taking commissions now, would you mind if I asked for an estimate just for possible future reference? Again, this would be for an entirely original concept idea so no copyright issues as it'd be for a book that's copyright of me.

It would be sometime next year if I were to continue 3D commissions. But I might be able to do 2D illustrated orthos. But I'm currently busy until the end of the year.

You might be aware, but if not, here it is anyway, if you ever want to make the Beyond Enterprise-A:
www.facebook.com/arthurtraycheβ¦
Sean Hargreaves also did a talk on it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDEQ8e⦠and it dwarfs the TOS Enterprise quite a bit.

Thanks. I found the ending clip, plus there will be people posting more images in the coming week. I'll build bother versions eventually.

I forget. Did you make an 'Enterprise G' for BC that could split into three parts? Or is that DJ Curtis's I'm thinking of?

trekmodeler In reply to Weldit [2016-08-12 17:20:32 +0000 UTC]
That would be DJ Curtis. I haven't built any Enterprises other than the ones we have seen on screen.

Have you had a chance to see Beyond yet? The ending has some ship design changes I think people who dislike the 2009 Enterprise are going to like.

Saw Beyond on Thursday night. I'll be seeing it again soon. Looks like the refit-A captured some elements of Ryan Church's earlier concepts.

Yeah. I like the fact they corrected a few of the placement issues when compared to its predecessor: the neck is attached further forward to the secondary hull and the nacelle struts are straightened so the nacelles sit the appropriate distance apart.

hey there, just got your message about the NX-01, so here's my message about the DL links, can you use the NX-01 mod in XPS? If so I'd love the mod, even if not, thanks anyway...

trekmodeler In reply to hcd01 [2015-06-02 00:13:40 +0000 UTC]
I am not familiar with XPS. I'll assume you will have to convert the mesh into a format that will work with XPS, since the BC file format is .NIF.

Thanks for the note. I did originally credit you in Taking a beating . However, I did stop it since my inventory models were from BC.
I got it, I'll credit the any newer post, and will try to update the description of older post.
I didn't realised that you were WC. I apologise for any misuse.

I would like to congrat you on your Polaris Class. She's one of the best design I've ever seen in ST universe. Keep this good work up!

Hi There.... Just wanted to say I found you ships, over at the BC files for Bridge-commander and have converted them for use with 3d Max... you attention to detail and the maps are oustanding... I have not used your work for anything other that learning 3d max and how to use glossy and speculat maps, and your models have been extremely useful.
My favorite is the NX model, and I have a small animation, nothing special on youtube as i experiment with various settings... I have credited Wiley coyote as that was th ename of your model pack...
Awsome work, If every you do another NX please let us know...Β

Dear mr. Wiley,
Sorry to bother on such short notice, but my name is Daniel Brongers and I am a writer of various novels. I am planning on creating a Star Trek fan series called, Star Trek: Guardian which I want to start filming very soon.
I am also looking for a modeler/3d artist for my show. I seen your work for quite some time now, I would like to have you on board. You could begin with the ship where the show is centered on, the USS Guardian. You can make this as an excisting ship or a completely new class. I will leave it up to you...If you need more information regarding the show, you can contact via my e-mail address (d_brongers@hotmail.com), where I can send you a picture of a ship I had in mind for my show or simply via PM here....
Either way, you have done a great job so far...I hope you will continue this line of work in a long run!
Yours truly,
Daniel Brongers
