Great gallery! Hope you don't mind I added you to my watch list! No fossil hunting here in Southern Arizona. Northern Arizona is great but not here! Oh well. At least I have fantastic skies! LOL Give and take!

Of course I don't mind - always happy to have another follower!
I have an Aunt and a couple Uncles that live in Tucson. Took a hike one day at a random sign we saw that said 'rock hounding area' or something like that and found a handful of chalcedony and a few geodes. No fossils, but you have some beautiful geology - and I'm jealous of how wide open everything is... I'll definitely be taking some astro photos next time I'm out that way.

Sorry I don't know the age of the Stromatolite or the location it's from.
I sold the piece a couple months ago so I can't really investigate it any further.
Thanks for the comments

Hello. I have uploaded several new recent findings and I have a couple I think you might want to take a look at. Im still kinda new at identifying my findings but I think one may be several (hundreds) of fossilized eggs! When I found it I was amazed but I didnt want to jump the gun. Anyway its in my fossil folder if you would like to have a look.

Hello! I noticed you have an interest in historic items
such as fossils. I have a nice collection of fossils I
have found ovr the years. I would like to invite you to my
gallery titled elements [link] which contains some
pictures of fossils I have found. Im trying to better understand
what some of them could be so any knowledgable advice or
insight would be wonderful!!

I would love to help you understand your fossils, and would also like to direct you to www.worldfossilforum.com , which offers free membership, identification services, and an interactive way to present your rocks, fossils, and artifacts to the world. We used to be magnitudes more active, but it appears fossil hunting/collecting has also been hit by the recession. Hope to see you there!

Thanks for the fave. I looked at pallasites last night(well technically this morning)and I found a few I like for under $100.
This is the first one I found that I like: [link]
I also like this one, because it has more natural surface area and you can see the fusion crust:[link]
And who wouldn't want this sphere:[link]

That sphere is awesome! but I know I could find a lot better things to do with 4 grand. haha
That first one is beautiful, but it's hard to tell if all the crystals are there... but the windows in it are gorgeous!
I think something looks fishy about the fusion crust on the second link, but I haven't seen any pallasites with fusion crust in person... I don't think I've ever seen a meteorite that was so glossy and so weathered at the same time... I wonder if someone tried to coat it with something. I bought a bulk set of Nantan meteorites for research, and ended up getting a bunch of meteorites that someone coated in some sort of lacquer.
Here's another one (note that shipping is $12, which is just ridiculous), but you might have to get in a bidding war to win it.

I've done bidding wars on ebay before and there's always the possibility of that last second out bidding asshole. I lost a piece of equipment for my darkroom that way, I was about to get it at a reasonable cost too. I just went and found one as "buy it now", I was too furious to go through that bullshit again. It was exciting though.
I would go to bid war on a pallasite, but I gotta do some homework on how to tell a fake and just basic research. I always do some homework on a high end product, sometimes before and unfortunately sometimes afterwards. Like, I bought a huge piece of red coral from a vendor, got an excellent deal. I did my homework after I got it and found out that it was dyed. Poo. I asked him specifically if it was real red coral; and it is real coral, just not red coral. At least it looks cool. I got so upset when I found out that I nearly broke it, but I figured that would be a greater waste. Besides, I already have a real red coral piece, a complete specimen from base to top. It's my favorite piece, hands down. Maybe my moldavite ties for first.

Haha, that last minute bidder always gets to me.
I honestly never really considered that a pallasite could be faked, but I just read of something being sold as the Shirokovsky pallasite that appears to be terrestrial in origin... but all the tests I know of that could prove it was not a meteorite would require testing you wouldn't be able to do without some interesting equipment.
I saw a paper that showed that the Shirokovksy pallasite may have been made through a powdered metallurgy process.
The safest thing to do would be to buy from someone that seems to have a good reputation. Also try to be sure that the meteorite's name is listed and the sample is representative of that particular fall.
