Children's rhyme common among school-age kids, originating in the Japanese middle ages. The full saying goes Yubikiri genman, uso tsuitara hari senbon nomasu, meaning "Finger-amputating Oath: If I lie, one thousand needles shall I drink". The oath is done while interlocking pinkie fingers, as pinkie fingers were the main gripping finger for holding a sword, and amputation essentially meant you would no longer be of use as a warrior. It also tied in with the "red string of fate" which tied the pinkie fingers of destined lovers together.

This gives what Katsumi said a double meaning. One one hand, she could be interpreted as agreeing to the pinkie swear, as a child, to a child. On the other hand, she could be interpreted as agreeing to a deadly, magical, soul-binding Oath which would kill her quite painfully if she ever broke it.

I enjoyed what you wrote, I just don't really know how to do Sachi's side of things very well on her own. She works best when she's the Yang to Katsumi's Yin. Her parts also tend to be self-contained vignettes rather than dialogues like Katsumi's, making it especially difficult to figure a way to have her interact beyond what's already been done. That being said, I love the way you're writing her and her interactions.

I was basically writing her as the Pollyanna, the character that stubbornly refuses to give up their optimistic view regardless of how the world tries to break them. Which is meant to contract with the 'dark/gallows humor' of the other Magical Girls. 

If you feel the party has gotten as much character growth as it can, you can just move on to the next bit.

it's certainly the excitement and wonder of a newborn! I did ground Katsumi a bit in my reply, considering her backstory, if that's okay. Also, I was using Japanese conventions and naming them Lastname-Firstname, so Takamura Katsumi's first name is Katsumi, and her family name is Takamura, changed to Kraehe (which would be pronounced ku-ra-e-he, probably). Minabe Sachiko's family name Minabe would be changed to Shiimi, and her first name to just Sachi, which was her previous nickname, shortened from Sachiko. This probably means her new nickname might be Saa-chan, even shorter than Sachi is already. The title -nee means "older sister", the title -chan means "little, cute" and is a term of endearment. -san is a term of respect, as to an older or more mature acquaintance. -senpai would be used for close superiors in knowledge and rank, -sensei to teachers. -dono to an aristocrat or noble. even if they're now part of an international organization, it would be difficult for Katsumi and Sachi to instantly switch to western conventions and terminology, unless that was also part of the mental transformation.

The idea is that for magical girl is that it's title/form/etc before their personal name. (IE Cardcaptor Sakura.). 

Since they're ALL considered sisters, they have no need for a family name. 

And I'm just happy you didn't have Katsumi instantly reject this happiness.
