Once Held by a HandMy heart
once been held
by a caring, gentle hand
for a time
bringing
warmth and joy
and new hopes
to its doors
But now
it is gone
withdrawing its hand
from my grasp
now an icy chill
has set in
The warmth I once felt
has dwindled in size
the fire
that once warmed me
barely a flicker now
not even enough
to warm my now frail hands
to remove the chill
they now feel
I no longer see the joy
of the world
that once been there before me
only sorrow and misery
and the torment
it now brings
may I see
My hopes
once so glorious
turn to stainless glass
easily shattered
by the freezing winds
An hand of ice
now holds my heart still
slowing it
turning it also to ice
never to feel
the warmth and light
ever again.
