It was scary the first 1-2hours I played it, but once your understood that nothing in this game was going to "kill" you, it made things a lot more psychologically easy to play. (Though I still freaked out when I ran into those Toriningen things T___T )

If you go to google and type "Yume Nikki Download" it's the first result at Idiegames.com. If you scroll down a little bit, there's a bunch of links to download it from. It's easy to install, too. Just make a folder for it, and click the EXE file and it should go.
