Well im an aerospace engineer that moonlights as a comic book penciler and more stuff to come.A quote from Liam Sharp a DA memebr and artist. Its something everyone should hear at least once when your comic is late.
"Comic art is an incredible mental feat that utilizes spacial-awareness, subconscious trigonometry, choreography, lighting, depth-perception, anatomical interpretation, acting, set design and boundless imaginative leaps. It mixes art with draughtsmanship, math, scientific grasp and a solid understanding of the physical, while still requiring a suspension of disbelief - and it's all constrained by boxes dictated by the writer, and reproduced ultimately on pretty small pieces of paper."

Do you have any advice on practicing gradients?

practice practice practice is the one and true way, and I know it sucks hearing that. find some lines that some inkers do and try to emulate them as close as possible. Try different strokes like going from thick to thin then from thin to thick to find your comfort zone. thats about all i can think of truthfully
