Oh yeah. I think I get what you mean. Like how the colours are so saturated, e.g. the sky being such a deep blue.

Hi, I don't quite get what you mean by 'so wrong yet so right'. Is it a compliment? Haha.

And, how did I do it? Just mucked around with highlights and shadows on photoshop of course.

HMM!

The lighting looks great now, but the image as it is needs some blending between the edges of the portrait where the face and other stuff join the backgroun. I'm gonna try and work that again in Photoshop, see how it ends up looking

yeah, man, I worked with that light again and again and again, first in Painter, then in Photoshop, with all kinds of brushes... I just couldn't manage to get it to look a bit more effective, while keeping the roughness of the overall portrait...

My being Canadian is surprising? Or perhaps it pervented a hazing to my name? I read your rant on Encore's page. I agree that the slogan "where art meets application" really has lost its meaning and perhaps they should consider making this site a dating service...

Well in any case, thank you very much for the comments

no need for personal attacks. just sounds like youre complaining about how much it sucks rather than trying to do something about it. talk to jark. or any of the other admins. donate so they can upgrade the servers or something. im sure all of the conscious deviants can tell that things are going down the tubes.

wow. seriously, I don't think I ever came across a better resume of everything that I dislike about DA. particularly the "devianteyecandy" conclusion. that is one thing I've noticed ever since I'm here. that art, in this site, is not analized technically. it's analized through the amateur point of view, which is: "this looks good." That's why there can be a painting like this [link] and get the attention it gets, and then there's a painting like this [link] and it's a total bomb. Why? Both pieces require talent. And to me, the first painting has just as much originality as the second... Or, if it's not a crime to say this (/irony), even more. The answer is quite simple. The second painting is figurative, is objective. It's easy to understand. It looks good. Whereas the first painting requires interpretation. And that makes a lot of diference on DeviantART, whose members might consider themselves artists, when the truth is there's hardly any artistic knowledge or desire for artistic knowledge here. I feel this with me too. I think my last painting was a greater chalenge and to finish it a greater victory than "merry and pippin", yet everyone seems to love the latter above anything else of my gallery. It's obvious why.

Bah. DA has a lot of problems. I totally agree: they simply CAN'T handle the ammount of users they have. they refuse to accept the need for a change of policy, but there's no other way: I too have started to realise that... despite how wonderful it is to have all these benefits for free and unlimited. I've been where you are now, before... Right now, I'm considering not leaving or deleting my stuff, but never submitting again, because it just doesn't seem like it's worth it. But, I still like some of the people I've met here, I like to browse and search for good art (because there IS still good art here), and I like the journal and the deviantwatch. It's like, I don't understand shit about internet so I can't have my own site; if I had, I would have left DA ages ago. The way it is now, I don't think I'll ever give up totally on it. Even if I have to stop and repeat "Calm down, Marta, it's just a SITE" when I see certain things...

Hey there, thanks for leaving your comments on Step Up To The. The blur wasn't intentional, but the camera I was using has an automatic shutter speed function so it just snaps once there's enough lighting. Plus, I have shaky hands and the photo was a spur of the moment kind of thing.

What you said about falling down the stairs isnt all that far from the truth though, as the steps lead to carpark away from a popular night hangout area, so a good percentage of people walking down them at night are likely to be marginally tipsy at the very least. Of course I dont know if things look blur or fuzzy when you're drunk since I've never been drunk, but the stairwell probably does look like that if i took my glasses off. I'll try reshoot with my canon when i get the opportunity and see if it comes out any better.

Have you ever had a dream, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire deviant life, that there's something wrong with the story. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.

You take the blue pill, the story ends. Your browser closes and you believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland. And, I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

I offer only the truth, nothing more.

Take: The Red Pill
Take: The Blue Pill

spyed, nobody has ever done this before.
I know. That's why it's going to work.
