This is really impressive!

I would be really thankful if you could point me in the same direction you took to studying how to draw faces.

tbh I went along probably the most unconventional path (or so a few might say). Instead of studying anatomy first and diving straight into realism I actually spent a year or 2 just drawing anime/cartoons. It wasn't until a family friend told me to switch to realism that I did. I would like to say though that perhaps the year I spent just drawing faces that weren't too realistic helped me understand just the very bare basics because by the time I did jump to realism my classmates had noticed the dramatic change my art had taken. If you were to look through my gallery there are plenty of old drawings still there that are quite (imo) cringe worthy.
Some tips that might help you (which I'm sorry if you've already heard before) are;
Using references. It's never a bad thing! I never make a drawing without one. Flipping your image so you can see the mirror - it helps to spot mistakes. When you flip your image keep it that way and continue drawing until you start to forget that it's actually the mirror - then flip it again.
sketching from photoshoots and magazine shots is all good, but sketching from tv shows and movies is even better because there's less airbrushing and the lighting/contrast is way better (usually all the shot, angles, lighting and colour saturations are there to add to the mood, if drawn correctly, your work can convey the same feeling).
I tend to set myself a semi goal for a month in which I want to explore something new or trial out new techniques - one month I might spend my time creating short animations (which I post mainly to my tumblr account). Another one might be to focus on backgrounds instead of just ignoring them (I'm guilty of this). It could be trying different angles and depth perceptions etc. Endless things!
