Description EDIT: The egg has hatched into a water dragon!

EDIT: CONTEST IS CLOSED.

**Winner is ~bubbly-squirtle **
2nd place is ~Zugoldragon
3rd place is ~leahboobear

(Because I thought this would be fun)

You like this egg? Want to know what's inside? WELL, this egg can be adopted through a writing contest! The rules are simple:

>> Write a short story about the origin of this egg, some significance about it, or how you or one of your characters discovered it.
>>The deadline for this contest is Friday, February 18. No more entries will be accepted at that time.

I'll be judging the entries based on how interesting and original they are. Writing skill does not matter as long as the story is relatively easy to understand. Also I may have runners-up if I have a hard time choosing. >.>

Once I select the winner, they will get to choose what the egg hatches into and keep it as their character. Now get to writing!

The battle field was a mess. Bodies and broken war machines littered the ground. The battle had ended hours ago when the Empire had given the orders to drop cydrogen gas, killing everyone in the process. It had become a favored tactic of the Empire to finish battles.

Glynn surveyed the damage, resisting the strong urge to barf. He really hated his job. It was one of the lowest positions in the army. His crew had been selected today to search the bodies for anything of value. Items that could be either reused or used by the Empire was sent back to the capital, otherwise the unwanted junk was split between everyone at the end of the day.

“It's time to rock and roll boys!” someone called, signaling it was time to start. Everyone groaned, but trudged off in different directions. He let out a sigh. This would be a long day. To Glynn the hours always passed by slow and as usual he'd found nothing out of the ordinary. He was relieved when the lunch break was called and he hurried to finish shuffling through the carrier's bag he'd found. The owner had been blown to bits but the bag had survived.

The bag had nothing unexpected inside and Glynn was eager to be done with it. His lunch was waiting. He shoved everything to the side in order to get a good look at the bottom of the bag and inside of nothing, there was indeed something. There a was faint blue glow coming from beneath the lining of the bag. Glynn grabbed his knife and cut the seams. It was a stone, at least he thought it was. The stone was pale blue with strange designs carved in the surface. Glynn ran his hand across it, surprised by how cool it felt.

“Find something interesting, skipper?” someone asked from behind.
Glynn nodded at the man who was the crew's commander.. “It looks like a stone. I found it hidden in the bag, why would you hide such a thing?” he said.
The commander leaned in close, staring at the stone. “Interesting, but that isn't no stone, that's an egg. A most curious egg at that,” he told Glynn who wore a confused look on his face.
“An egg? Are you sure?” Glynn asked curiously.
The commander didn't answer right away. He instead pulled out a silvery rock, polished down to be smooth. “This here is a moon stone. They brought back from the early voyages. If I'm right then you'll see,” he explained as he held the moon stone close to the egg.

Glynn leaned in closer to watch. He was darn right curious now. The egg's glow intensified as the moon rock was held closer and even the designs darkened in color. He stared up at the older solider. “What just happened?”

The commander chuckled and pulled the egg from the bag and the glow vanished instantly. “The egg reacts to the moon's energy. The glow grows when the moon is near and diminishes when the sun's rays hit it. Something like that indicates power, and the creature will unique at the very least,” he said, watching the younger soldier. The commander could see the question the boy was ready to ask before he even opened his mouth.

“Listen, keep it. The last thing the Empire needs is more power. The other country was hiding it for a reason, so my best advice would be to dispose of it immediately, but it's yours. Be careful, skipper,” he warned Glynn before walking away. The boy's fate was in his own hands now.

Glynn stared at the egg with wonder. It was his, how was it? But it was his. He gave it one more look before zipping the bag shut and hurrying off to join his crew. Something in his gut told him things would change.

The snow was beating down two snow covered dots in the snow. One was Sarah, the owner of many exotic, and rare creature. She wasn't some kinda of collecter, she just had a passion for diffrent creatures. And the other dot in the white snow, was Syntom, Sarah's best friend and a hald tiger half facless. Syntom had the body of a tiger a rather huge dark blue main, and a mask for a face. and at the tip of his long tail was a glowing ball of blue light. And did I mention he was as tall as Sarah herself, and she's a normal sized teenaged girl, if not a tad shorter.

While the trio of adventurests walked deeper and deeper into the snow storm, the more it got worse. The snow by now had frozen they're finger tips and ears and tail, but they slowly stopped feeling they're legs and needed somewhere to stay that was warmer.
With a bit more walking in the snow They found a small forest, and hurried under the tree's to stop being pelted from snow a tad bit.
Though it didn't warm them in the least. Sarah's teeth jittered and Syntom's tail twitched and shaked horribley. They both huddled to the tree next to them and tryed to warm up. For a while, they didn't, but slowly, something warmed them up.

In the midst of dark wet snow in the small forest, was a bright icey blue light from the snow. Grabing at Sarah's curious side, she stood up and padded threw the snow as Syntom followed. The closer she got, the brighter the light got, soon she uncovered the light from the snow. What she found shocked her, it was a light blue egg about the size of both of her hands in fists combined, and had glowing blue etchings all over it.

the egg warmed her soul, she quickly bundled it into her scarf and ran off with it to her home.
every day, the egg slowly rattled and cracks began to appear.
her and Syntom eagerly now await it's beggining in the world.

is this to long? I thinks so.... sorry.. >.>

i'll try for fun and because the egg looks awesome!

-Miss, what it this?
-this... this is an egg Tobor.
-An egg? And what's an egg for?
-from this egg will hatch a baby dragon, just like you, jou hatched from one of this.
-Me?...and... who is that baby dragon? who will hatch from it?
-an orphan dragon Tobor.

It was winter in the Northern Polar Zone. The snow and the weather was colder than in spring, fall, or summer; its night, the beautifull auroras can be seen in the sky. A egg was just left in the doors of a orphanage. One of the orphanage keepers heard someone knock the door, she opened it and saw this poor egg. She grabed it in a hurry and entered to the orphanage.

This little dragon, Todor (a 2 years old dragon), was curious about the egg. He looked at it, he wanted to touch it, and play whith it, but any of the keepers led his to do that, but he never stopped.

The weeks pased. That misterious egg hatched. From it borned a female ice dragon. Tobor was there, looking at her. He wanted to play with the new baby, he just wanted to make a new friend, and he did.
Kinay grew up why tobor at his side, they were the best friends ever. If one of them laughed, the other one did too, if one of them cryed, the other one too.
Whatever, everything was awesome, untill the keepers wanted to separate them.....

Thats all i will say for now. I used a little, little piece of a soty inside my series, The Legend of the Golden Dragon.
When i saw this egg i though in an ice dragon, so there's the story

here is my story thing;

One day Mint and Soul were walking through the woods and Mint tripped and fell into the roots of a huge strange tree. And in the roots hidden very well was an egg with light and dark blue decorations all over it. A couple yards away from the egg was the mother of the egg. She died protecting the egg from enemies and other animals trying to eat it or steal it.

It was a fiery day in the Great Desert of Uphon. The prince of the desert, Apondre, was powering his way across the desert, patrolling his land. He had just reached the border between Uphon and a neighboring forest when he spotted something glittering in the desert below. He swooped down from the skies and landed gracefully in the scorching sand. Using his great golden claws as a digging device, Apondre unearthed what appeared to be a small, shining egg. It was swirling with shades of white and blue. These colors were rare in the desert, as most dragons from Uphon were brown, red, orange and yellow. It was clear that the egg wasn't from a land anywhere near Uphon, and that fact made Apondre curious. He decided to take the egg back to the heart of Uphon and let one of the Phyraids care for it. (a Phyraid is a female dragon that cannot or has not laid an egg). Every time Apondre touched the egg, he felt the egg radiating with some unseen energy. Apondre was no prophesy teller, but he had a feeling that if given a chance, this egg had a great destiny...

This egg was discovered in Shengri La by the first few Monks. The Monks found this high upon one of the mountains surrounding Shengri La. Where this egg had been lain, nothing had came close to it. Monks came to this egg because being around it brought peace to and around them. Soon after every monk found out it brought peace and harmony, they all wanted this egg to be their own. They had a competition as to see who would get this. (so blah blah it took like 10zillion*major not* years to figure out exactly who got the egg), and they finally found the perfect person to care for this egg. His name was Kapone, but he was just a child. Now, Kapone was the perfect person for this "egg sitting job" because he didn't make a big deal of the egg like all others did. Long later, when Kapone was old and sickly, he told his only son that it was his job from then on to make sure the egg was safe from thieves and robbers. Kapone's son, Addney took this job and left with the egg soon after his fathers passing. When all was done and Addney was getting ready to travel from his home to somewhere far, the egg began to move slightly. Addney took this as a sign of hope, and set off in finding a new home for himself and the egg.

my story for this egg, enjoy

It was december, and the wild was freezing to the bone, killing your nerves and making your brain cells go dead. I was plunging my way through the snow for three hours; for i was hiking before the big storm hit, leaving me stranded. My feet and fingers had gone numb an hour or so ago, and it was traveling up my legs and arms. I wished on my lucky stars, for a something to happen, atlest death, so i wasn't so cold. Then i tripped on something hard and fell on my dead face. I looked down to see the egg, londged in the snow and ice on a mountain peek. I prided it out and held it to me for dear life. The egg glowed and shimmered, radiating heat. I traced it's design with my finger, making it glow more on my touch. It's been 3 months, and some how i made it out of the storm, thanks to the egg. it sits on a bookcase, by my desk, awaiting the day it hatches.

that's not as good as i wanted it, but i have to go to sleep now~ *yawn* enjoy *crawls in bed and falls asleep*

Kimi darted through the darkening forest, followed by her companion Bear as well as the tiny, somewhat cranky hummingbird griffin she'd named Pascal. The lush green scenery flew past in a blur, and Kimi raced along the trail, seeing nothing of interest. She skidded to a stop, however, when a flash of glowing blue caught her eye. Bear tilted his massive head inquisitively, and Pas began buzzing around her head, seemingly annoyed. Kimi caught hm in midair, frowning as she placed him on the curious 'saddle' she'd made for him on her shoulder. Pas looked reproachfully at her, twitching his ears and finally laying his head on his legs and dozing off. Kimi motioned to her other companion, a dire wolf/bear mix with ram horns. She gracefully leaped over a boulder to find the source of the glowing that had caused her to stop. As she approached, she could see that it was, in fact, an egg. Kimi grinned, looking back at Bear. "This is great! Finally we've at least found something interesting - I guess going here to look for fantastical creatures wasn't in vain after all!" It was beginning to turn dark, so Kimi took a few steps back and watched as her hand was slowly immersed in bright, purple and blue flames. She held her hand above the egg carefully, so as not to overheat it. "I wonder where the parents are..." She pondered aloud. "Well, I suppose we should set up camp here and see if the parents return, or, better yet, if the egg hatches...." Kimi began pitching the tent, after lighting a fire with her strange aura. Dusk had arrived, and the Mayan jungle was no place to peruse at night. Kimi lay against a rock, swaddled in blankets, with her head resting comfortably on Bear's sturdy shoulder. The sleeping griffin was tenderly covered with a tiny blanket of his own, and Kimi and Bear soon fell into a deep slumber, their inquisitive spirits awaiting the dawn.....

I was walking by myself out by the lake. It was frozen because of the cold from winter. I wasn't used to it so I wore more than I needed to. I yelped loudly as I slid on the ice and fell."Stupid frozen water!"I mumbled angrily before noticing something glowing in the middle of the lake. I did my best to get closer without sliding and found a strange egg."Poor egg. Why would someone do this to an egg? It could perish out here."I said sticking the egg in my coat and zipping it shut."That's better. Hmm... That's weird. You already feel warm little egg. Maybe you are resistant to cold?"I mumbled holding it loosely.
(how's this? ^.^ I put alot of thought into it )

Heres my story:

One day as Zoull was walking along the beach she found an egg. This egg had a strange feeling about it, but she decided to investigate. Shaking, Zoull touched the egg and the egg gave her a vision. The vision was of the mother carrying her egg to a new home over the ocean when she dropped it. Zoull jumped back, frightened but still curious, and moved to touch the egg again to learn the rest of the tale. After the mother dropped the egg, she began to search for it in the ocean, but the egg just blended in. When the mother gave up the search, the waves brought the egg into shore. As the vision subsided Zoull wondered, "Should I take the egg home or leave it here?" Looking around, Zoull finally decided to take the egg home, hoping it would hatch even after the terrible trauma that life had dealt the little egg.

The egg comes from an old and ancient paradise. Some scientists discovered it, but a mysterious creature took the egg away, and left it hidden in a pyramid. After that, a human named Luis (aka me) found the egg inside the pyramid, on a school trip. She kept it and took care of it. Until now, the egg hasnt opened. she is really curious about what is in it, and likes to talk to it and tell it some stories. She thinks that way it will hatch sooner.
