Almost a whole week of beautiful sunny weather came to a close on the last day of the competition, the heat and humidity had triggered a thunderstorm, but that didn't seem to bother the competitors much.
"Hello, my name is Luke" Luke introduced himself to Hannah
"Hiya, I'm Hannah"She replied.
"This is my horse AS Duct Tape or Ducky for short" Luke said as he patted Ducky.
"And this is my horse HTF Confident or Star for short" Hannah replied.
"He is very handsome isn't he" Luke said as he reached to pat Star.
"He sure is. but i suppose we should get warmed up now, from now on we are against each other, the match race is 1 v 1 remember" Hannah said as she tightened stars girth before mounting.
"It's on" Luke said with a smile. He'd never done a one on one showjumping round before, he really couldn't wait. He tightened Duckys girth and pulled his stirrups down before mounting and joining the warmup ring. After warming up he got called to the main arena, he halted next to Hannah and Star, "Good Luck" Luke said "to you too" Hannah replied. The staff then opened the gate to let them in, the course was identical, almost as if there was a mirror in the middle of each jump. They both stood at a start line. "Next in the ring we have Hannah riding HTF Confident vs. Luke riding AS Duct Tape." Then the bell rang and both horses were off. Ducky had a very small delay in his reaction but he caught up by the time they landed the first jump, then as they approached the first turn Ducky was on the inside meaning he could get a small advantage but by the next corner he was on the outside of the track. A large clap of thunder in the distance spooked both horses causing them to almost crash but they managed to steer away from each other before they did. After a dramatic round with thunder and lightening in the distance they both approached the final fence, they took off neck and neck, then landed roughly the same as well, just two more strides and they crossed the finish. It was extremely close and was very difficult to see who won without having to use a slow motion camera.
