Description
An atmospheric discharge of electricity accompanied by thunder [link] ,which typically occurs during thunderstorms, and sometimes during volcanic eruptions or dust storms.
In the atmospheric electrical discharge, a leader of a bolt of lightning can travel at speeds of 220,000 km/h (140,000 mph), and can reach temperatures approaching 30,000 °C (54,000 °F), hot enough to fuse silica sand into glass channels known as fulgurites which are normally hollow and can extend some distance into the ground.
There are some 16 million lightning storms in the world every year

Everything is amazing on this picture, anyway, the electricity effect could be a little more shiny, since it's pure light, it would be reasonable to have a strong white, and not pure yellow, but that's only my opinion.

Maybe you could try just adding white to the parts in which the energy focuses the most, and leave the rest yellow. Like a Kamehameha, in which the center is white, but the surroundings glow in blue
