Description I have yet to successfully take a decent photo of a crow or raven. I believe that this was a raven, since I found him (her?) observing me from a tall bush in the gardens of Versailles (France).

Quoth the Raven, Nevermore.

Sorry. I love Mr Poe and so I could not resist. I think you took a far more than "decent" photo. Its perfect really in capturing the essence which is Raven.

Yes, the title "Nevermind" was a play on Poe, who I must admit I first discovered as a result of Alan Parsons, one of my childhood heroes, and his album "Tales of Mystery and Imagination". I wish I could capture the definition of their feathers the way they appear in person, this photo does not do justice I'm afraid. I have a similar relationship with the crows as you have with the squirrels, I feed them in the winter, calling them when I throw out food. I first realized that they listen when my son was about 6 months old. He made crow sounds before he could actually speak, and when we went out in the stroller he would respond to the crows, "Aw-aw-aw" and the crows would reply back. They usually followed us up the street and back, moving from perch to perch to hear better or get a better view.
