Description
Vidar been finishing off the White December a bit shorter than usual, to get after his fatherly duties.
Some goodbies were a bit harder than others though.
***************
As the Train station came to sight, Vidar already saw some entrants boarding. He was the last one to arrive and checked in who had made it to this point and if anyone was missing. In his company, also Sándor, who somehow didn't seem in as high spirits as in the start. "You ready to go all the way north, brother?"
Using the time while all the others were boarding, Sándor gave his avian companions some time to stretch their wings and soar high. If only his spirits were doing the same. Sorrow has crept into his heart and mind, sneakily, without giving much notice. But now...
Addressed by Vidar he turned to look at him properly, the typical gentle smile on his face. "I dare say if you feel ready for any part of this challenge you underestimate its cruelty once you make a mistake. Let's say... I feel......... confident.." If only...
With a compassionate expression, Vidar stepped closer to place a hand on his shoulder "You are the very last person who would need to prove anything if you feel better to stay." he looked up at the birds, was he worried about them?
The hand on his shoulder felt like somebody putting a sledgehammer to his walls. Vidar was of the rare kind who manage to poke just at the right spots for him to open up. "I am aware. I guess I am just a little sour to not have you around." Not exaaactly true.. but..
"I'm sure you will enjoy the dude who joins in Norway" Vidar chuckled and patted his arm "he can throw shade just as well as we do."
"Well, if that isn't a relief." He could not hide a little peak around. The chipperness in his reply soon faded from his general presence though, especially the more people were done with boarding.
"We are rooting for you." he smiled "and you are welcome to come hang out with our family once you safely arrived at the finish line" there was a noticeable worry in his voice, he would have certainly joined him if it wasn't for his daughter waiting at home.
For a moment he felt utter guilt slam into his chest. How selfish of him. "Yes, of course. I mean, my greetings and best wishes to your family. All the health and whatever you and they may need.. " he stopped a moment before facing Vidar again with a quite swift turn. "Do you need anything?"
Blinking, Vidar was almost startled by the change of his mood and was just hoping he would be alright "Dude you be acting a little concerning." was it hypothermia? eventually he stepped closer "I would need a big old hug at the very least"
"I guess I just suck at letting go of the shenanigans I planned to do with you along the last part.", he tried to smirk a bit to sell his statement better. Of course, without any hesitation, he near fell into the hug, which was immediately tightened without any consideration of breathing space.
"The shenanigans won‘t have to stop with this event, we can go right on at the next.“ he returned the tight hug to show him how much he MEANS it
Taking a deep breath, Sándor tried to ground himself, to find his calm again. He was so sorry that Vidar noticed something was off with him. ".. for sure. Next time"
"Don't make me search for you if you don't show up at the finish line!“ he had to tease a little.
Sándor looked at him for a while, unable to reply as swiftly with a joke or anything dismissive as he would have hoped to. "....... would you.... really?", he mumbled.
He just nodded and locked his hands behind his back. Really he felt a family expansion with Sándor.
Feeling the tighter lock finally broke the last wall down. Sighing deeply he held tightly onto Vidar followed by dropping his head on his shoulder. "..... I'll be back as soon as possible. And once I'm back I promise I will tell you everything, alright?"
