Description A digital painting done from scratch for a site called Howrse. After the last one (Silver and Gold: can be seen in my scraps), I had a better idea of what I was doing so this one came a lot quicker ad looks more polished than the one I did before.

I can't believe this only took me about an hour and a half.

I used to spend a lot longer and have a much more difficult time painting horses from scratch. I think I'm nearly ready to do an entire painting without using any photos in it.

I know this isn't one of those polished photomanipulaton/photomanipaintings you're used to seeing, but I wanted to add this one to the gallery anyway.

Now I feel sad. My fisrt horse, when it died, had this coat. And what's worse- I killed it intentionally because it was old. *sobs* I just wanted it to go to heaven.

xD I used this coat on my horse, Montague. This is my favourite horse skin so I chose it. Its better then the rest because it has an original pose and the couluering is awesome. Thank you for making this.

Wow, a lot of people with a deviantART account play on howrse!
I've been meaning to message you and tell you how wonderful your artwork is, and I haven't gotten around to doing it, so I guess I can say it now. XD
You did a VERY good job on it! I've been meaning to get a coat like that for one of my Greenstar Hanoverians, but I can't buy passes
Along with the color and the way you did the mane, the body stance (sp?) is wonderful! -faves-

There also seem to be a lot of horse lovers on both DA and howrse, so I guess it's only natural to have an overlap. It's neat to see the same people on both sites.

Perlino is my favourite natural horse coat colour, that's why I made one in that colour.

Wow! I saw this picture on Howrse and on the quiz on another horse site...don't know how i got there!!!

I used this coat with my first golden apple on my Arabian called Osiris! It was the only one that lived up to him and his name! Thanks so much for putting it on!

Great work, and the mane and tail are probably what told me to use the coat on him! Fantastic work!

Oooh, I didn't know you had a DA account. Very nice! Just wanted to comment to say I love this coat (and the Silver and Gold coat). I'm really picky about spending my passes, and I hadn't really thought about ever getting/using a Golden Apple before. But once your coats came out, I gave in and spent the passes to put on of each on my Arabian twins. Wonderful work! Hope you get a chance to submit more coats in the future!

Hey, thanks!

It was done in Adobe Photoshop CS2 with the aid of a Wacom Graphire4 4x5" tablet. It would be really hard to do with just a mouse.

It's still too bad your coat got sent back to you. It seems they refused a lot of good coats, and let lots in that are just photos with a filter on them. At least they've removed many of the photo ones already.

Good luck with your coat the next time the Pearl opens!

Hmm.. I'm thinking I need to get a tablet. Did you do your shading and such on the tablet as well? Would you be willing to let me know how you did it? [I'm expecting to get my own tablet soon... I've been looking at prices of Wacom tablets and I'm saving up now xD]
