I haven';t seen such animation with chao in a long while. Especially something so adorable.

Sega could or really expanded on chao due to their metamorphic nature.
Nintendo had PokΓ©mon, a "catch your own monster" game while Sega could of made chao a "raise your own monster" game.

If Sega ever made "Sonic Adventure 3" and it will come with chao gardens, they should make "Chao Adventure 3" be a lot like PokΓ©mon Go! or Wizards Unite.
Chao Adventure 1 and 2 was mostly a tamagotchi game but given the chao automatically walked made it an automatic-walking game as well.
They could make a mobile AR game where if you transfer a chao from Sonic Adventure 3 and actively take that chao out for walks to landmarks or special encounters then your chao will grow and flourish. Plus, imagine how cool it would be if such a game allows you to meet Sonic and his friends just as you could in Chao Adventure 1 and 2 and they help your chao along?
And that's just my ideas for a Chao mobile AR game. Chao themselves can be revised to cater for more competitive chao owners or those who want to see their chao grow and change. Imagine if you give your chao various animal parts, for example whenever you give it an animal it inherits a feature from it that frankly looks like it's been glued on. But what if after cocoon metamorphosis and depending on what kind of chao you raise it will take on the animal aprts into it to look more natural and unique to other chao? Like making your chao look more like a mermaid or a beast with claws, that sort of thing.
Sega really could of had a foothold to rival pokΓ©mon if they realised to true potenial of chao metamorphic nature.
