Description

June 3, 1980

I have been run ragged the last few days hunting down every one of the recently-reanimated kaiju, and trying to analyze their behavioral patterns before Gamera can get to them and wipe them out. The massive flying terrapin seems to be taking this intensely personally, and even Godzilla and Mothra seem content to stay out of it. I'm not surprised; for reasons unknown, the only kaiju being reanimated seem to be ones that Gamera has already fought. Gyaos, then Zigra, then Viras, then Jiger, then Barugon.

The UN has detected a massive form in high orbit, close and large enough to the Earth to be seen as a new star by the naked eye on the ground. High-powered telescopes have determined that it is a massive alien vessel, nearly 25 kilometers in length and 8 kilometers in diameter, shaped like a tremendous wedge. By what's believed to be a complete coincidence, the vessel bears a passing resemblance to a spacecraft from the movie "Star Wars", and many news outlets have given it the nickname "Star Destroyer".

For the last few hours, Gamera has flown startlingly close to the gigantic vessel, apparently intent on attacking it. Yet, the vessel has not fired a single shot against Gamera. It's believed that the vessel is either unarmed (highly doubtful), or that it simply used up all available energy stores online to reanimate and control the various destructive kaiju. Telescopes are even now trained on watching as Gamera flies right up to the alien vessel, and-

Gamera has collided with the vessel, causing an enormous explosion. As the light clears, neither Gamera nor the alien vessel can be seen. It's believed that both have been destroyed.

June 4

The world has entered a day of mourning for the death of Gamera. According to various UN sources (and they're NOT saying who they are), the alien presence in orbit was an AI known as "Xenon". Xenon was designed to reanimate and/or control the megafauna of an inhabited planet, using them to wipe out or cripple any resident civilizations before setting them up to guard Xenon's creators as they moved in to colonize the new world. However, just before Xenon's destruction, it apparently sent a signal to an unknown target in deep space. It seems the creators of this monstrosity are still out there...

Reality check: this is the alien from "Gamera: Super Monster" from 1980. I do not own the rights, etc, etc...

I thought it was Zanon.

It's an Anglicization of a Japanese interpretation of an alien word. I spells it how I please.

So, who are Xenon's creators?

Question: why were Gamera’s foes the specific targets of Xenon’s reanimation?

Because

.

um.

.

Nobody else in the Millerverse knows either, because I can't think of an answer that's not gonna come out like a voodoo shark.

Viras, Zigra, and Gyaos' psychic origins may have something to do with why they were chosen to be reanimated, same as Barugon and Jiger having already-existing control mechanisms.
