Description
After a brutal, protracted war, the Southern Jin ultimately reunited Tai Jungthuti under their rule. The Northern Yuan, ruled by the descendants of the Sublime Khanate to the north, had previously emerged from the partial collapse of the Jin. In the aftermath of the ensuing Jin Conquest of the Yuan, the Later Jin became the only significant rival to the Sublime Khanate. The alliance and later personal union between the Southern Jin and the Celestial Mandate of Hûsong was a major contributing factor in the Southern Jin's triumph. For these efforts, the Later Jin awarded all of Toivan and a portion of Hanguk to Hûsong. The Protectorate for the Pacification of the South extended to Muksachiong as Hûsong's ambitions grew faster than its oceanic empire.
However, all was not well for the Later Jin. Its personal union with Hûsong ended with the death of the fongti due to differing succession laws. Hûsong had become hardline expansionist, seeking to extend its authority south and even west, desiring portions of the Jin-controlled coast. Meanwhile, the Sublime Khanate was ever-encroaching on the sovereignty of Gamxiug, a tributary state of the Jin that doubled as a buffer strip between Great Tibet and the ever-powerful Sublime Khanate. And, worst of all, it was beginning to seem that the Later Jin had lost the Mandate of Heaven.
Author's Notes
This monstrosity was created for a telephone map game. I don't speak Hakka, so I had a friend who does speak it, Taka, do all of the translating for me, which is why it's the only good part of the end product. I was proud of this map at the time I originally finished it over a month ago, and it provided an excellent opportunity to experiment with my style and labelling in particular, but it just doesn't look good compared to my more recent stuff. Considering my map is the only source he had to go off of, it's all the more impressive that rattyratterooze's map turned out so well. Although my contribution to the telephone map game was lacklustre, I still had fun participating and trekking out of my comfort zone for a time.
