Description Don't live near the ocean, but Lake Michigan is really impressive in size. We also have some great beaches here along the shores of Indiana. The water is great and I'm always in wonder at the creatures that live in the shallow waters of tide pools, living off of the nutrients that the waves bring to them.

Was going to post this later in the week but figured I might as well get it out of my hair. Created with Ultra Fractal.

Edit: Tweaked the image after some feedback on size.

I was still learning a lot about UF when I made this one, but it's still one of my favorites because of the little things that came out in it. Appreciate the feedback.

Amazing! I love the detail and how it sort of goes on for infinity. I don't understand fractal art, but it looks truly exquisite!

Thank you. Some fractals do repeat which is one of the requirements for them. This one was like that for the spiral, I could really zoom in on that for a long time.

Thank you. Probably one of my best mixes of textures. I was really doing a lot of experimenting with textures and this was near the end of that so it paid off.

Something about this is just so attractive... I love the simplistic design and the coloring you used- the light texture makes it very beautiful, and it really seems to have such a strong glow about it. It's lovely!

Thank you. I was first aiming for a completely blue image but it lacked a lot so I went with earth tones instead and it came alive in front of me. Finding that underwater light/shimmer was a pleasant surprise after a long hunt for that formula.

UrbanCinderella In reply to Aeires [2005-07-20 09:25:59 +0000 UTC]

I can see how the blue would allude to water, but I don't know... this reminds me of birth in some ways- I think it's the way it's curved. How sad that at 5:30am, a fractal reminds me of the fetal position.

But yes, the earth tones really serve it well- I couldn't see something with that kind of movement in colors that weren't bright.

Thanks. One of my most refined ones and one of the most worked as well. I was beginning to wonder if I was going to run out of coloring algorythms when I was making this, and there are hundreds.

Great image. The colors are beautiful. I really love the "water." I know a few people who go up to the Dunes and drive 4-wheelers and stuff, I bet it's a blast up there.

Thank you. There's a huge, steep hill called Mount Baldy. In the winter it's the greatest sledding spot around but man, what a climb.

Art imitating nature. That's one of the things I love about fractals so much, they are naturally occuring in nature everywhere.

Very clean image. Looks like a shell in very hot water. The 'golden' colours are very warm and shiny, makes it look more realistic. Interesting title by the way.
