i think the snow cover really increases the drama... we will see what spring will bring...
and, yeah, this day and with this light... it was pretty fantastic running around on such a velvet landscape. though more chance of tripping!!

That landscape seems to be larger than the country I live in

the palouse is one of the most fertile places in the world. there is only one other place (in china) which compares... so these incredibly huge and steep hills are farmed despite their noncomformity to a horizontal surface. so they are generally clear of trees in service of wheat, which creates the huge expanses similar to desert when covered in snow.
it is very beautiful and huge here...
the netherlands is much more flat, isn't it?
i have second cousines there... i've always been curious about it. my mom has always been proud of the part of her that is dutch.
i think that there is potential in every landscape... if viewed in the right way.

The netherlands are flat indeed, almost the half of our land is even below sea level, so that is realy, realy flat. Yet there are some places I love here, like texel. Texel is a tiny Island, it has a huge beash though, takes about 30 - 40 minutes to get to the water. It's only sand and some wild grass. Really facinating because only the weather can 'set' the atmosphere.

I live near the 'veluwe' it's about the only piece of nature left here. Yet no hills here either, it's quite nice though, espacially when the moor has flowers, you'll see bright purple fields.

beautiful, her black dress against the white of the snow is perfect, I also really like that she is wearing a shorter dress, very contradictory to the setting. The scenery is breath taking.
