She may be one of the older warlords, but Kaoru is a powerful ‘mon: just not in the usual way. Instead of swords and shields, this Musharna is a gifted healer, renowned across the country for her variety of healing methods, from herbal to aromatic; her specialty, however, is dream healing. By using her dream mist and a unique blend of potions, Kaoru is able to heal mental pains caused by extreme trauma. Few can claim to have access to the same wide range of healing techniques she can perform, and fewer still can match her skills that she spend so long to perfect. However, such power comes at a cost, namely, her sleep habits. Kaoru is old and tired, and as her age and workload catches up to her, she can no longer stay conscious for over an hour, falling into a drowsy state wherever she may be and relying on others to wake her.

Most people can’t fault her for that, though: Kaoru is well-liked by most, and even those who dislike her will find it hard to get into a fight with her. She dislikes conflict in general and is very kindhearted and empathetic, making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to anger her. Needless to say, she is extremely against war, as, in her mind, it brings onto destruction, pain, and sorrow, and she only wishes for peace for all to enjoy. This extends to her healing regiment, as she will heal any injured Pokemon, without question, and she will do anything within her power to make sure Sazanami stays whole and healthy. Not only this, but she is also a hard worker, always spending time with others and studying new healing methods from all over Avalon.
She isn’t perfect, however, and her faults stem from her good points; she finds it hard to accept that you can’t protect everyone, nor shield them from conflicts and the harshness of life. Kaoru has had some trouble letting go of the past, of her regrets and mistakes she has made. She will also neglect her own health to help others, and work herself to the bone. Though Kaoru’s biggest problem is probably that she sometimes underestimates what evil can lie in the hearts of others, and would even want to shield them from their own darkness, neglecting her own safety.
History:
Her province is well known for their talented healers and diviners, those who communicate with spirits, as such, shrines to those who died defending Sazanami are usually found in her province. Many people come to her lands, in search of both healing and in the hope of learning from her, including her assistant: an apprentice of sorts, a Drowzee by the name of Inoue Hayata. He helps her in many of her healing sessions, particularly dream healing, as he is trying to learn as much from her as possible. Kaoru often goes into a trance during those sessions, so he is around to make sure all goes well, and he’ll even bottle up some of the excess dreams that sometimes occur to study them later. Though his abilities are not the same as hers, he tries his best and works hard.
In her past, Kaoru has served under the late Emperor, and two Shōguns, one being Katsumi, the other her father. Not only was she a member of the Emperor’s council, but the late Emperor was also a close friend of hers. After his death, Kaoru was devastated, falling ill to her grief, and she hid away. She regrets her actions to this day, wishing she had attended the needs of Sazanami and had stood by them, by the Shōgun and some of the warlords as they, in their grief and anger, went to war against Yamatai causing only bloodshed and sorrow. The death of the Emperor, the genocide of the people of Yamatai and her own regret for giving in to her weakness and hiding away, instead of being there by their side to help the Shōgun make a better choice in those trying times, greatly damaged Kaoru, and her sleeping problems became much worse after these events. She has never truly recovered, unable to heal her own pain as she has healed so many other's pain. She became much more secluded, and somber, though she tries to put on a smile for all that need some cheering up, always putting others before herself.
During Aether’s recent intervention in Sazanami during it’s conflict with Gang-tie it was revealed that Koaru’s drowsee assistant Inoue Hayate had taken advantage of Koaru’s vulnerable mental state after the death of the emperor. Using his as well as her own abilities against her to manipulate her mind and control her, through her gaining a way to take and implant whatever thoughts and ideas he wished in the minds of others. After being exposed Inoue fled the scene, taking pieces of Koaru’s memories with him, the bottle containing these seemingly the only thing that could restore Koaru’s broken mind and perhaps reveal his plans. Due to her condition her head healer, a purple oricorio named Miyamoto Tsubaki, is now in charge of running the district, until further notice.
