Description The people in the village were content with their lives for a long time. That is, until a certain Yarobor arrived in the village. He appeared to be from a noble family and had a seal from the Great Knyaz' appointing him as the village elder. Strange, isn't it? Usually, the position of village elder was given to locals or those of lesser noble status. That's why rumors started circulating among the people, saying that Yarobor had fallen out of favor and the Great Knyaz' had banished him.

Yarobor himself, although seemingly good-natured, was cunning and vengeful. Upon hearing what people were whispering behind his back, he began to strengthen his power and imprison troublemakers. The people became subdued and afraid of Yarobor. No matter how many messengers were sent to the capital city of Odrut with news of Yarobor's tyranny and abuse of power, the Great Knyaz' remained silent.

The people were right about Yarobor. He used to be a trusted associate of the duke's treasurer and had access to both the duke's chambers and the council, where he had many connections among the state officials. Yarobor was plotting against the Great Knyaz' Ardent in the capital city. This information reached the Great Knyaz', and if Yarobor hadn't been Ardent's distant relative on his mother's side, his days would have ended on the gallows in the capital. But the Great Knyaz' refused to listen to anyone and showed mercy. Overwhelmed by the grief of his wife's illness, Ardent did not want any more deaths and banished Yarobor to the village of Suglinka.

So the years passed, and Yarobor, being a skilled administrator, strengthened his power in the village of Suglinka. He became wealthy and surrounded himself with short-sighted but loyal people.
