yeah, I actually like this better. I'm a fan of darker lighting. It feels more realistic actually.

Fair enough. I've been criticised in the past though for my darker lighting, so I'm a little anxious on that.

Hmm, I havent had that yet, but you never know. I just like the contrast. I'm trying for more subtle lighting and I always seems to make it come out darker.

Thanks. I'll be submitting it later tonight, I hope. Just working over some finer details on the wings and the clouds behind her, before I'm happy with a conclusion.
As for using Poser, I only use it to get a basic understanding of human anatomy at angles my mind's eye can't get right, so I don't bother with the program past that. Like what I said to someone else, it's a bit like being at a photoshoot, where you can look at any angle, instead of relying on photos with fixed poses. I still go through the process of sketching everything down, and doing my own skin toning, so please don't get the impression that I use the program for anything more than good pose reference.
As for Asuka? lol, I was thinking the same thing, but I couldn't figure a better colour for Pepper. She's hot, so it's gotta be red.

Oops No, I never intended to mean that you use it for that. I use it the same way, unless stated otherwise, which I havent done yet...
I have a really hard time with imagining poses, and proportions with the poses. I also like the fact that the pose I create is original, and cant be traced to some other picture. I dont like the idea of using reference, or even inspiration from someone elses picture. A poser model may not be created by you, but the pose is, so it's still your art. I never meant that you use the blending and lighting etc in your pics, sorry that it came out wrong.
I never had art classes past High school, so poser is my only real anatomy lesson. I would love to have a live model sitting in front of me, but it's really not possible
It's ok, it doesnt look like a copy of asuka's suit, just reminded me of it. looks awesome. Good luck, I'll be holding thumbs for you!

Thanks again.
Well, aside from some very boring art classes in highschool for me, (Picasso... may you forever be loathed. XD) I've never had any real anatomy lessons, apart from what I've just self taught myself over the years. Being on a property, away from civilisation, doesn't help all that much either, but it doesn't bother me. I agree with what you said about creating original poses from Poser. It is your imagination doing the work, after all. Like you, I have a hard time imagining human poses otherwise. (Which is why I prefer drawing backgrounds and space-faring vessels more than actual people at times... ) I can get a general idea in my head with how they should look, but when it comes to executing it with the pen, things just become cloudy without any visual aid. Like before I knew Poser, I bought some really good articulated dolls from Japan. They were either from Volks and Dolfie... I think. Japan always makes the best stuff.
lol, maybe one day, if I manage to get a wife that's as sexy as some of the women I draw, she could pose for me all day long.

In your dreams mate, no real woman is as sexy as the ones you draw, and that's a fact
Dolls are an idea I never had, but yes, many good things DO come from Japan
My friend is heavily into Poser. He spent a great deal of money purchasing poser 7 and vue, which he uses often. He actually got me interested in poser, so I bought it in China. I dont really know how to use it properly, but he's shown me a few things. I suck at proportion, but I can see what I want to draw perfectly in my mind. Using poser helps me make the image I had envisioned. I still paint everything by hand as well, I dont see the point really, unless I do that. I keep figuring out new things by mistake, it's silly but good, and fun.
I'm working on shameless WoW fanart at the moment, a nice blood elf. Pose was done in poser, but I'm working on the painting and everything else by hand and skill alone. Similar style to my Morgana at Dusk pic.

Nah, generally women who look as good as them are shallow creatures that survive off men that are good for lots of money, to subdue their materialistic urges. Good looks are second. Personality a faraway third. That's why the nice guys nearly always finish last. Anything else is Hollywood.

'girls dont like boys girls like cars and money....'
it works the other way around too, guys like the hot bodies.
Nice + Good Looking = Extreme rarity
I should paint more hot guys...in fact...I'll make a few WoW hot guys, maybe the night elf since all the models of them in the game look extremely not-hot...
What's one way you can tell most of the game designers were men, what's 20?

20?
lol, it's a well known fact that sex sells, so saying game designers are all men is a little misinformed. Chances are there are a lot of female game designers out there too that know what the general public wants, so why would their gender get in the way of knowing the easiest path to success?

Great work - love the pose, red tint, design of the ship and how you've framed the picture in a way that keeps it together but is still a bit abtract and adventurous. Fave.
