Anime "30 fanarts contest"[link]
One of the artists I'm watching is holding a fanart contest and I wanted to join. Actually, I found one of her original characters really intriguing and I wanted to try and draw him
His name is Catalessi, Cat for short, and he's a half dragon, half human hybrid that can't transform from one form to the other, he can only stay in pure human form for short periods of time from a small amount of magic he learnt from his father. His mother was a gold dragon, his father a wizard, and baby hybrids tend to take on the form of their mothers prominently, which is why he's stuck in a half dragon form most of the time. Great art, as usual. ^-^ He seems to fit the half-golden dragon form quite well.
I have to say, however, that this work seems a tad bit messy. The hair and skin are exempt, but the clothes seem to have a lot of unnecessary highlights. The scales could've been a little better too. They lack the sheen of, well, scales.

You're right, it is messy. I should have spent more time on it, I had an idea in my head and I sort of got where I wanted, but I didn't clean it up properly. I guess it's more of a sketch/drawing instead of a fully resolved work. I might come back to it later, we'll see.
It is, and isn't what I had in my head. It was late at night and I was tired, but I really wanted to get this out before I went to bed. : )
