o3o Because they -do- hurt.Sorry if this doesn't make any sense XD I still thought it was pretty funny.
For anyone who doesn't know what a birthday punch is: it's where someone, maybe a friend or family member, punches your arm or shoulder as many times as your age. Example; I'm 17, so people punched me 17 times, plus an extra punch for good luck getting to 18. Y'know? *doesn't make sense*

A birthday punch is like, an annual thing that happens (or should, if I do say so myself, unless you're a frail, whiney little scardy-cat) where family members and close friends will, well, punch you. Depending on your age, they may punch you x-amount of times, plus a good luck punch to get you through to next year.
eg. I turned 17. Friends punched my arms 18 times.
