Haha that's very kind. I'm not too pleased with this painting, but it's great to see that others feel different about it. The brand of the paper is Canson Montval 300g/mΒ².

the way you adapt tales or poems is really beautiful... with much imagination!
(i don't know if you understand.. i hope^^ - frenchies aren't really great in languages... *shame on us*)
Many things come from your paintings...

I think that this is one of your best paintings up to date. The grass looks so silky-smooth that one just wants to take a nap in it and the details on the trees are rather amazing. I also like it that there seems to be a heavy history weighing on this country while at the same time there is such peace, that shepherds can look after their flock of sheep without fearing that they would get attacked. I find it interesting that you put a much heavier emphasis on this rather brutal seeming past (or should I use the word glorious instead of brutal?).
And finally: I admire you watercolour skills in general! I could never do something like this.

Thanks very much! I think it is a brutal past as it's meant to be a reference to the really brutal 30 years war.

Thank you! Perhaps it's because of your colors. I can put layer above layer without the colors getting "muddy".

Oh yeah they are good, I have them, too. Though I don't use them very often. Mostly I use 'Ecoline' from Talens.

Yes, it's those. They are like ink, but they are water-soluble.

Alarie I think you're becoming better and better. And Like Dragonlady said you're really finding your own style now.
Your trees are stunning, and make me (as well as the sheep) very nostalgic about Cumbria... *sigh*

Thank you very much livel!
Didn't know Cumbria looked like that, it's just a fantasy landscape.

May I ask, how did you do the grass? It looks amazingly realistic!
