Description Talampaya Canyon, a place called "the monk" and "the bottle" for the way it has adopted the land affected by erosion. The Talampaya  formation (Tertiary period) is composed of a cluster of red-brownish rocks. The strata consist mainly of sandstone, it is has deposited by alluvial fans that came down from the edges of the basin. This rock due to erosion of millions of years has molding various forms.
