I must say that the first time I saw this film in theaters, at first I thought that I would not like the story very much or find it interesting, but I changed my mind when I finished watching it and since then, I really liked the plot and especially these two characters that ended up being my favorites in the whole movie and that I even ended up shipping them, although I know that they are just good friends and support each other and above all, I love the relationship they both have. This movie is called: “Bolt”, released by the Disney studios in 2008. The story is about a dog named Bolt, who lives with his owner; a girl named Penny, whom Bolt must protect with his "powers" having been genetically altered, from the evil villain, Dr. Calico (actually, Bolt has been living in a recording studio in Hollywood all his life and has arrived to think that he really has powers, although he does not) and one day, when Penny gets "captured" by Dr. Calico, Bolt thinking that she is in danger, decides to go rescue her, but without realizing it, he ends up slipping out from the recording studio and arriving in New York City, where he will do everything possible to return with Penny and on his way he meets Rhino, a hamster who loves television, action and adventure, and Mittens, an skeptical and sarcastic cat who help Bolt to get back home with Penny and during their adventure, Bolt realizes that he eventually has no powers upon learning that he's only been acting on a TV show, but luckily, Mittens teaches him to be a "dog" and little by little, the two become friends and when they reach a crucial point where Mittens wants Bolt to stay with her and Rhino and forget about Penny because she thinks her feelings for him are not genuine, though Bolt doesn't believe her and he tells her that Penny really loves him and Mittens tells him that all humans are the same and confesses that her owners abandoned her and left her without claws and Bolt, feeling sorry for Mittens, tells him that Penny is different and when he returns to Hollywood, Bolt mistakenly believes that Penny doesn't love him anymore upon seeing a dog similar to him that was actually his replacement in his starring role, but upon seeing this, Mittens realizes that Penny does love Bolt and misses him and in the end after Bolt manages to save Penny from the fire, Penny and her mother also adopt Mittens and Rhino to live with them.
I find the film very tender and the relationship between Bolt and Mittens turns out to be very platonic; because at first the two start out as enemies, because Bolt thought that Mittens worked for Dr. Calico and did not trust her because she was a cat, forcing her to help him to return to Penny and realizing that Bolt does not know how to be a dog, Mittens teaches him to beg for food, to play, to eat and to behave like a dog after Bolt rescued her from the kennel, making Mittens to befriend him, so much that Mittens wanted Bolt to stay with her and not return with Penny and when Bolt expresses his disagreement, Mittens reveals her sad past, making Bolt understand her and in turn, Mittens understands that Penny does love Bolt and the two trust each other and become very close friends. I like both of them so much, although I know that Disney would not ship a dog with a cat, but even so, they both seem very cute to me and how their friendship gradually emerges in the plot of the movie.
