Description First words out of my mouth when I saw this one? "Holy Moses!" - Pictured here is the Cataphract of Col. Marina "Chilly" Wilson, regimental commander of the 131st Royal Battlemech Regiment. aka the Death Knights. The infantry-men pictured are the SLDF Basic Army infantry, who are similarly equipped as the SLDF Colonial Marines - the main difference being the helmet and some other smaller details not immediately noticeable.

This work - is again the product of S2ka and ObsessedPerfection! Please, leave a comment! Show your support for these wonderful artists!!

Oh it is the symbol for the Office of naval intelligence from the xbox game Halo odst.

I had a feeling it was ONI. I am a huge HALO fan - ironically there is some cute trivia behind their selection of that name. At the time the original Bungee game HALO was being developed, their best selling and game released before HALO was completed, was called ONI. Good game, still have my copy somewhere.

Admittedly I didn't know that Oni existed... I thought it was just an acronym. That is interesting! Thanks for sharing!

It was one of those "Huh, when you think about it..." kind of trivia moments

Lol I get those alot!
On the subject of the cataphract... is it hand drawn? That takes some real skill to get the perspective correct. I also like how the artist added in the foot soldiers... Really puts into perspective how big these war machines are.

Well I have honestly never asked S2ka about his creative process, but part of it is a highly detailed (or as detailed as I can get) instructions on what I am looking for in the image. He does a draft, and we work from their, picking the colors, where the logos Obsessed designs will be placed, then adding the final finishing touches like the soldiers. The older TRO's, like the original 3025 from the 1380's FASA run, had some moderate detail to them. What I want to do is capture the flavor of the characters and their rides as were played out years ago when the campaign was being run. Being the nerdy little SciFi loving kids we were, we were fans of all sorts of cool tech pieces - from the M41A Pulse Rifle, to the ships from Starship Troopers (Heck, I even remember as a gag turned serious joke once, we wrote up BT Stats for the SDF-1 Macross), we put a lot f it in to game to do what the game was intended for: Having Fun, and that's the flavor I want to catch with this art - so that when you see the mech, and you see the pilot, read her bio, see her stats, see her command, it lets you taste the flavor, and feel the fabric of the games reality.

I think, personally, that's the key to making any game fun. Take it seriously... but have fun taking it seriously.

Also, and this is important even though it may not seem like it, because Combined Arms was a big thing with us, you will rarely see one of our pictures that doesn't include a secondary, if minor, element to it.

Thanks! My best friend and I were HUGE CMC fans growing up, and one of the first things he did when we started playing MechWarrior, was to have various independent companies build custom gear for our units elite infantry. Honestly we took a lot of things we liked and found some way to incorporate them in to our game, so be expecting to see more ultra-cool stuff as my commission  artist continue cranking out work of this quality! Cheers!
