S E R I O U S L YWhy couldn't it have been quadrupedal?
Incineroar's design is alright imo, EXCEPT ONE THING. What bothers me to no end is that it's another freaking bipedal buff-ass muscle pokémon... Just put it down on all four. Great!
Going with the "circus" theme evreryone was so happy about, with its flame belt it'd actually look like a tiger mid-jump though a hoop of fire. CIRCUS! (Primarina would still be the seal juggling balls, and I guess Decidueye would be the guy throwing knives? Arrows count as sharp projectiles, right?)
Charizard, Typhlosion, Blaziken, Infernape, Emboar, Delphox, Incineroar. Game Freak, quadrupedal fire starter is when...? :'<
This is a VERY quick and VERY lazy thing I drew up, but I kinda like how it came out, I think. This is hereby my own personal head-canon. Mhmm.

There I would have been happy with this, especially if Torracat's bell thingy, morphed into a realistic fire mane unlike what we see in male Pyroar. I HATE the Incineroar we currently have, a furry bipedal wrestler, how stupid

I've seen quite a few people say they wanted Litten to stay quadrupedal too, and when Pokémon's Facebook page made some posts about the Alola starters they were overrun with the "angry" emote. Even Poplio's and Rowlet's images were full of people shaming Incineroar in the comments XD

There may be hope in the upcoming five Fire Starters and animals of the Chinese Zodiac; sheep, ox, rabbit, snake and horse. The snake is the only one who doesn't have any legs and the horse is more likely to remain quadrupedal. I'm not sure about the other three, although I hope they don't make the sheep bipedal because we already have Flaaffy and Ampharos, the ox is more or less likely to remain quadrupedal or a minotaur as I fear and the rabbit can be either two or four legs. I'm not psychic and I don't know who comes first, but I can only assume what the Pokémon Company has to offer us in the future. Until then, Typhlosion remains the closest to being quadrupedal in its final evolution despite its frequent bipedal stance and movement.

Even a centaur can be still quadrupedal. And I've seen quadrupedal Pokémon attempting to stand on two legs, even Samurott is able to stand on two legs despite being the only fully evolved quadrupedal Water Starter and Primarina doesn't count because it doesn't have legs, but it can stand up with its hind flippers the same way it did as Popplio and Brionne.

I like Litten/Incineroar's character development. It learns to love fighting, but can't because it isn't a bipedal. Then it finally becomes one. Makes sense evolution wise too, bipedals are just better.
Being Bipedal also gives them a sense of personality and character, and generally makes me gravitate to them more than a generic 4-legged beast. Quad mons should just be reserved for regular non-starter pokemon, imo.

Guess it makes sense evolution wise, but we have had bipedals evolving into quadrupeds before, and heck we've certainly had quadrupeds staying quadrupeds :3
I very much disagree on that last part, but each to their own ^^ I can't see how personality is connected to the number of feet, and I would like some diversity in starters.

In the pokedex entry for Torracat, it states " The cat punch that this Pokémon can dish out with its strong forelegs is extremely powerful. It can bend iron bars and knock out large men with a single blow" and in the game it will get on it's hind legs to do so. That is what I mean.
I suppose what I mean by having more personality is that they feel more human, which I like better since I'm an anthropomorphic artist. Regular animals just seem to bore me a lot, and creatures just feel way less expressive when they don't have arms and hands to work with. I actually refused to evolve my Dewott because he went four legged as a Samurott. Also really glad Delphox turned out the way it was because good lord I have no idea how a 4-legged Mage would have worked, that just sounds stupid. Pls don't force my child on all fours, you wouldn't like it if somebody did that to you.
That being said, they've made the fire type starter end up bipedal 7 times in a row now, it's pretty obvious at this point that it's a tradition like other things such as them picking fire types' species from the Chinese zodiac. Probably going to have to accept it at this point, otherwise you'll just disappoint yourself again in Gen 8.

Samurott is actually capable of standing on its hind legs when in battle though. It even carries two swords and has finger digits for object grasping. Its more of facultative biped than a quadruped.

Guess I can see why it's less human (at least physically) to keep it on all fours. I still don't think that means anything at all for its personality though. Litten had plenty going for it already being all cool and what not, and I can't even being to list all the animal characters in movies and games that are booming with personality.

I'm fine with Fennekin evolving into Delphox on two legs mostly because I don't want it to look like another Ninetales, but I agree with Tepig and Litten that they should've been four-legged in their final evolution.

At first, I was skeptical about Litten evolving into a heel wrestler and hoped it would evolve into a quadrupedal tiger like the majority before eventually accepting it for who it is, but I can also see Incineroar as a werecat in wrestler "clothing" who might use its arms as front legs to run faster if running on two legs isn't enough. At least it's Fire/Dark type and there is inspiration behind that design. I once read a sadistic comment from someone threatening to amputate down every leg of each Fire Starter to prevent them from ever standing up on two legs, but luckily the owner disabled the comment to prevent anyone else from reading it.
