Description
Although native to the eastern Mediterranean region (from Turkey to Israel), Allium nigrum is a hardy garden plant here in Germany. In spite of its common name 'black garlic', this bulbous plant (almost) lacks the onion or garlic scent typical for most of the Allium species. Wild plants normally show white flowers but 'Pink Jewel' is a beautiful selection with a soft pinkish color.
