Drawn for my wife on our Anniversary in November, in our hotel room at the Yokohama Landmark Tower while she slept.When we got back home, I piled up on references of the 1971 Super Beetle and strove for extreme accuracy - at least with 'Bee's car bits.
I played with it a little in PS and was pleased enough that I decided to enter it into a contest being held on [link] . Now that the contest is over, I assume it is safe to unveil to the masses.
I hope you all dig it.

As a small update, I just wanted to announce that the little diddy above won [link] 's contest #5! I scored a sweet white polo emblazoned with a Decepticon logo on the breast. It looks awesome. :> Can't wait to run around in it in Yokohama. :>

Yeah, I hear you. I really need to sit down and start putting all my story ideas onto paper. Eventually I'm going to lose them if I don't write them out or illustrate them.

Ha, I love it! It really has that vintage feel due to the proportions and overall style, but it's a shame that it's "ruined" by the head (the smile is weird and doesn't fit the style) and the lack of tires on the arms for that extra vintage G1 feeling. Well, if you're going for the toy's look that is.

Well, wasn't drawing the toy in particular. The design is moreso inspired by Su's IDW Bumblebee than anything else, but it's really my own take on him.
And my wife likes her Bumblebee's young and unconditionally happy (or naive, as I see it). :> So she got her bubbly 'Bee, despite the design confliction.
What can I say? I love the gal. It was our anniversary. :>
