I can't work on this anymore... my brain might just leak out of my ears if i tried any harder. So here it is. Goodbye.Getting a nice moon texture has probably been the most difficult thing in terragen i've ever had to do..... it seems easy, but it's a little devilish, and a lot of playing around with surface maps ensued. The space scene is similar style to annihilate, however i'm improving a lot since then. Not filling every corner of the piece with something, leaving some areas blank... can't say i'm not trying. Anyway the most difficult part was making the earth look like it's about to go boom. I used that texture once more, except i added a lot more, the lava on the earths surface is a lot more controlled, i've overlayed some more textures to make it seem like it is going boom, and everything's a nice ominous orange to evoke the feeling of imminant doom. Nice huh.
But anyway, bleugh, fact time!

- Terragen pre-render time = 3 hours
- Actual render time = 5minutes.
- Post render time = 1hour.
- Cinema4d pre-render time = 1hour
- Actual render time = 25mins
- Photoshop time = 23hours
- Photoshop layers = apprx 300.
- .PSD size = 412mb.
- Computer crashes = 7.
Total time = 28.5 hours. (over 4 days)
And now my laptop needs a rest because it's barely letting me open up IE O_O

That's really positively stunning. But I think the planet with the ring is flat and also the big planet--you could have applied the spherize filter and then it would do. Don't hate me cuz I said that I'm not that good myself. Everything else is Awesome.

love the color scheme. indeed the moon is wonderful. but im not too sure about the two falling meteors at the bottom. they look a little out of place.

I agree with whoever said about the moon needing some light at the edge and then another comment about the two meteor over the moon. Also, I beleve the meteor crashing into the earth seems a little .... idunno... transparent? it just seems a bit off. I like this one very much, but it's not a fav, sorry.

The nebulae are really great looking. So is the planet with the ring around it, and the front, centermost asteroid. The texture of the other planet is pretty damn cool looking... especially the cracked lava surface.
I just don't know what to make of the... moon, did you say it was? at the front, bottom of the pic. I think it needs some light around it's rim. It's texture looks really detailed, especially for Terragen, but it's just so hard to see!
*BTW... if you can get your hands on a copy of Bryce 5, you might find it helpful. You can create planets to much more personalized specifications much more easily. And you can make atmospheres for the planets even easier! It seems like a pretty overwhelming program from the outset, but after a few goes, you get the hang of it.

Thats awesome work, man. That starfield of yours is spectacular-the best i've ever seen. and the maticulous care taken on the earth with the cracks in the crust, its amazing. You sure have a handle on a horde of amazing programs there.
