I made this because some people asked me how I coloured my quick works. This is not really a tutorial, just a presentation of the way I do it.
I think whether your colouring looks good or not depends mostly on your choices of colours and shades rather than your technique itself. Beginners often make the mistake to use very similar shades for shading as their base colour. Don't be afraid to experiment! You can even use totally different colours to shade with.

I've only ever used 2 tablets so far, both were the cheapest kind of Wacom models. Those are perfect for amateur digital artists.

Hmm, FASCINATING idea to do pale skin by only colouring the shadows. I'll have to test it out the next time I feel like colouring digitally.

I do every light part like this when I want to do this quick colouring. When I do it normally, I fill everything with a base colour first.

Well, I used "Szils" in the title of my old tutorial I made in 2010, so I decided to go with that again.

Lol, it's easier for me to do it digitally. I remember how much I hated colouring large parts with pencils when I was younger. XD;

For some reason I really like these little... uhm, presentations? It's helpful, I think.
I use Gimp instead of PS, but that's because I have PSE, which is really annoying. Gimp is awesome and I already used it at school, so I kind of know how to use it. You also get a lot of standard patterns, including one called "wood of some sort" (That's seriously the name.). XD

I like them too, but I think I learn more by copying things and randomly experimenting by myself. XD;;;
"Wood of some sort" Haha! XDD I've never used Gimp because I got a copy of Photoshop CS2 from an acquaintance even before I had a tablet.

I'm glad you like it. I draw and colour with Sai. I just add backgrounds, textures and do minor edits with Photoshop. But in the beginning, I had only PS, so I did everything in PS for a long time. You can do most things with only one software.

I have a Mac, so it makes it a bit harder for me. XDD But I figured out how to get Windows on my MacBook so perhaps I can try something when it finishes downloading.
