LOL!
"This is the part where I assrape you with my ridiculously big sword. Your blood is the lube." - Badass.

The same here: give me a fighter with two swords and I'll be a happy mass murderer. Or give me a rogue because I prefer opening the locks by myself. Two blades. Not one, two. That's important.

However, after DA2 I decided to try out the mage class. You know, suppressed guys with extraordinary talents, vigilant templars, demons, cool spells, yaddayaddayadda. Well. In the first 15 hours I sucked hard. But after a while I started to enjoy the spells that were able to kill 5-6 enemies at the same time, and at last my face didn't get completely bloody during every single battle. But next time I'll play with a rouge.

I'm playing a rogue in this playthrough, since I've never played one of those, either.
I'm actually growing fond of it I love the backstab and back-to-back moves.

I love this because this is exactly what I did. I just don't have the patience or the mentality to play magic types.

I've always preferred any class I can find between the two. Though, in KOTOR2, I tended to favor the Force-specialist classes... Though the Watchman/Assassin prestige class was always fun, especially with the sound coming out of stealth makes... And, in Oblivion (If I can, I'll try to get Skyrim when it comes out), I was mostly warrior, but I also had good magics (especially since my major skills were mostly magic schools, seeing as they're a pain to level up otherwise), and loved the lightning spell (Totally Sith-approved). BTW, have you ever been a warrior class that had magic, but you forgot about said magic until near the end of the game?

My sister was trying whatsitcalled Oblivion(?) and hasn't gotten around to using any spells aside from heal yet.

They should make mages with proper armor. Seriously, a dress is not proper battle attire.

amiko16 In reply to BewareOfWombat [2011-06-14 01:17:01 +0000 UTC]

I only seem to get fairly decent armor in DA as a mage near the end of the game :<

BewareOfWombat In reply to amiko16 [2011-06-15 05:12:39 +0000 UTC]

Wouldn't it make sense though that the more intelligent class would know it's probably a good idea to put on a freaking armor in battle?

It depend on game, some game spellcaster really suck, but some game like NWN2 in my opinion spell caster very good, especially in Mask expansion, One thunder storm, and every one around you get .... zapping time, While melee may over whelm by enemy number

I'm currently doing a four White Mages quest in Final Fantasy 1, so I know the feeling. This is the Dawn of Souls version -- I wouldn't even try it on the NES. (And considering that I am doing a solo Red Mage quest on the NES, that tells you something about just how weak White Mages are, even with four of 'em...)

I usually am a melee'er as well, but I wanted to give mages a try after everything I keep seeing/hearing about mages... Never... Again. Rofl! Back to melee ftw!

I think mages should only be played after one is accustomed to a game, not on a first playthrough XD;

Yes! My mage was my third playthrough lol. NEVER AGAIN! Rogues ftw XD though I did enjoy swinging a big ass sword around quite a bit...

NanQuan [2011-06-06 21:20:08 +0000 UTC]

For the most part I feel the same Rogues are ok though. Cept I use them like warriors sometimes... Have you played Tales of Symphonia? That was the only game where being the healer was awesome for me! Especially since you could play with other people and just wait while they did most of the work and then sneak in, hit the monster with your staff for like 14 dam and steal the final kill. Glorious.

amiko16 In reply to NanQuan [2011-06-07 01:40:35 +0000 UTC]

I figured I'll try a rogue next time I play DA2. I used 2 swords as a warrior in DA: O, so it should be.. interesting XD;;
Being able to pick locks will be useful, too :3

sordcooper2 [2011-06-06 20:28:53 +0000 UTC]

yaaaaaaaah thats why i like going with the battlemage classes, lots of buffs so you dont just die, and you can make a monster choke on your fireballs WHILE your disemboweling them!

amiko16 In reply to sordcooper2 [2011-06-07 01:39:42 +0000 UTC]

lol what game is THAT? XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sordcooper2 In reply to amiko16 [2011-06-07 02:20:50 +0000 UTC]

well you can do that kinda crap in more free formed rpgs like oblivion or any of the other elderscrols games, but its an actual option in dragon age origins if you can find the little mini side quest to unlock it, it ends up making it so your manna replaces your strength, and your willpower replaces your endurance, sooooo you can go from a frail little book worm to a man who can punch holes through castle walls and shrugs off direct hits from catapults XD and you get a bunch of passive spells that just make it near near imposable for your enemy to hit you!

near the end of the game i felt pretty bad for the darkspawn so i often charged in with my spells off and nearly naked, lamo

I usually play rogues or tanks. Swords ftw. Although I got a mage in World of Warcraft, and it wasn't all that bad... well, I died a lot, actually... but I could throw big fucking balls of fire! (yes, I did the "Buurrrrrrn muahahahah" too xDDDD)

I think this song is appropiate for this topic. I find it hilarious.

Yeah, that's it. They're tactics games. Soooo much fun. Though you don't often play a character in them; it's more of directing an army kinda thing.

Though I would recommend you play Fire Emblem 7 at least once, it's really character driven and the story is awesome. x3
and you get to be a character in it, yaaaay

*stalks email obsessively waiting for tracking info*
Though if you ever move WSWB to its own domain it might be good to set up your own store in case Indyplanet does this again...I know I am going to >>

Actually, they posted a way to do that on their site.

Apparently you just put the customer's order info into the Ka-blam re-order thing. It's a roundabout way of doing it, but I guess in situations like that it's the only timely way to do it. DX

amiko16 In reply to Lorcan0c [2011-06-06 19:52:19 +0000 UTC]

Ditto. I tried a whatsitcalled, an Infiltrator, I think, which was painful in ME1, but a little better in ME2.

Still, soldiers > everything else in ME :I

TheFusionmix In reply to amiko16 [2011-06-09 20:47:44 +0000 UTC]

Infiltrator, if you abuse the Immunity skill and the Commando specialization, is actually the most brokenly powerful class in ME1. Infinite 80% damage shielding FTW.
