A beautiful vehicle.  Seen them when I was stationed in Germany back in the early '70s.  They swept the armor competition until the Abrahms should up.

Ah yes, the Leo 1. We in Canada had those for a long, long time. Good tanks, too. Superb for the whole idea of a fast-moving tank battle; not particularly heavily armored by damn heavily armed, the Germans would have been experts and shoot n' scoot if the Soviets invaded. Now we got the Leo 2, and it's both heavily armored, heavily armed, and fast, too. Talk about uncompromising. Only the Jerries could manage it.

I always felt that with the Leopard, taking pot shots at the oncoming hoard! But then my favourite of the era was always the Chieftain - chunky, accurate thing that may have been let down by it's reliability.

Ah, yes, the Chieftain. Good for defense, that's for sure. I always figured a good defensive idea that would involve a lot of international coordination and cooperation would be having the Brits in the Great Northern Plain defending territory right in front of the Soviets to draw them in, and then having the Germans hit the Reds on the flanks or, better yet, the rear.
