Aye very different indeed! Tarot cards are my favorite! I haven't done them in a long time, but I still enjoy them. I think I haven't used them in awhile because I dropped my Tarot book on a spider (it scared me and I didn't mean to) but yeah... I don't want to see if there's mushed remains...

I haven't read tarot in a while, I had taken a class since I was having such a hard time learning how to use them. I can always send you the Tarot packet I got from my teacher. I'm not a fan of spiders but I've grown use to them

I'm not much a fan of them either. I do tell them though, if you go in my room you're fair game. Stay out of my bedroom and you can live. XD Don't worry about sending me the packet, I have a deck that has been passed down in my family. It has a lot of meaning to me, and since it's been in the family I feel it works a lot stronger.

Amberwood In reply to angelwalker [2007-12-25 22:40:23 +0000 UTC]
No its not a deck actually, a listing of attributes to cards to add on. Although I did learn something quite useful, I donno if you use it. When you pull out a court card... like the queen, augment it with another card, and if it is another court go until you have a numbered card or a major card. It goes more in depth with that position.
Your a lucky little snot to have stuff passed down in your family. I come from a catholic family, though we have some interesting things in the family from my moms side, which I know there had been a witch before. I'm just not certain where.

Interesting... that's very interesting. I didn't know about additional cards, although I did see a tarot deck of fairy cards that was absolutely beautiful. very interesting indeed! I should do a little more investigation. It's been so long since I've done anything.
I am a lucky little snot (I can admit it). My family has a pretty good feeling we're celtic too, for we've managed to trace our ancestors back to a time in England where everyone was Celtic. So I like to think that helps me out now and then. lol, especially when drawing energy from the Earth. Sometimes you just need a helping hand. Oh witches slip in and out of families generally unnoticed. I think my mom might be one, but she's never said a word about it to me. She gets very interested when I find books about it at the library and such, and bring them around. I've come across little spells and items she's put in place, but I've never questioned her about it.
Try tracing your family history back perhaps. If you find a time period that connects conveniently, or a sudden shift of location, you might have found the witch in your past.

I'm half irish, then the rest equal parts of german, french, sweedish, english and somwhere in there some native, but I don't know how much. Yes I can email you that little packet, it supplements things a bit. My moms side came from ireland during the potato famine, and became lighthouse keepers on lake superior. Look up Malone Island, its off the shore of Isle Royal, that was my families island heh.
I actually look at the celtic pantheon, I'm a green witch but thats not very spiritual as far as the colors go, so I augment it with some druidry, though I haven't had a whole lot of time to really do any research. My mom was never a witch, though is a non practicing catholic and supports my finding in the craft as well as my brother. We had gotten into runes many years ago, I was 13 he was... 21 I think. If thats 8 years difference. She's a very spiritual person, she likes looking at the oils I've made and the stones I've worked with and such. If your mom is a witch she's either very good at hiding it or never really delved in deep, or something had happened to her that makes her not share. As it is us Witchs have only started coming out of the broom closet more recently. My mom views that if she talks about certain things it gives away her "power" so your mom might very well think the same thing.
If you do ask your mom, make it when it's just you two, and just ask a simple question. "I've noticed you get really interested in this such and such, it makes me happy but I'm curious to what makes you so curious." So on and so forth.
No I actually think it was from my grandma's side which is the french and german side. I believe it was me in a past life. I know my brother and I have always been related in a past life, always been brother and sister. Tho his soul is much older then mine. I'm about 20 life times, he's closer to 50 I think. Though that might be an interesting project in the future, but it would be really hard since my family is very catholic heh. I really lucked out with Mom. I really did.

Hee hee. I'm a major mutt when it comes to family trees. English, Irish, Scottish, German, Ukrainian (or rather gypsies), Norwegin, and welsh... I know there's others but I can't remember them now. lol When people ask about my religion I tell them I'm a druid. Closets thing to what I do believe... for I'm not one straight sect. As for my mum, I've tried to ask her, but she always avoids it. I think it's more of a quiet thing that runs through the women in my family. For my grandma is amazing with plants. If they are sick and almost dead, she can nurse them back to health with no problem. Even in her more aged years. (She's in her 90'ies now), but she's amazing. We have a funny family connection with the women in our family.
It was around halloween, and I had remembered a children's book that I LOVED as a kid (it was a Halloween book). Well she happened to be shopping, and she found it (without me telling her). She remembered that I loved it and bought it for me. A few days later she picked me up and I had told her to keep an eye out for the book. She started to laugh and told me she had already bought it.
Also that same few weeks, she found a knocked over geranium. It was practically dead (the roots had been exposed far too long), and she felt bad for it. She picked it up and took it home. She couldn't get it to survive so she took it to her mother. Her mother was thrilled for she had wanted a new geranium, and she nursed it back to perfect health. No problem what-so ever for her. I too have a hint of a green thumb... which is actually a problem right now. My spider plant is having so many babies I don't have enough pots to put them in.

LOL. I don't feel comfortable calling myself a druid since I don't feel I'm to that level. I either call myself heathen or pagan. Maybe you can ask a non question question. Like. "I've always sensed things that I don't think others do. You don't need to go into detail other then a yes or no. Does that run in our family?" If it does she might not be proud of it or it was how she was brought up. As for you when you grow older you will be faced with the same question. Share your knowledge to your children, or be quiet like your Mom. She may have her reason why she feels that way. I suspect something had happened that is keeping her quiet. But thats only speculation. We have extra sensory in my family. Seeing, hearing and dream walking. I can't really dream walk right now but the other two I can sorta do. I can sometimes see, but I always feel something. I know who I want to be around and who I don't. I'm pretty astute to things, I can sense emotions really well. I'm pretty decent reader of people too.
I love Samhain, its my favorite holiday.
Try looking into the green craft. If you haven't already. Ann Moura. You might find something interesting about that. I would love to have a spider plant heh. Well put the seedlings in glasses of water, and get some pots from home depot later. They sell terracotta pots cheap there sometimeis.

My mom's always been a mysterious person. I think she might be quiet about it because she was officially raised Methodist, but she grew up on a farm, so it was hard for them to go to church. Then my 2nd oldest sister got child hood leukemia (cancer). She survived and is with us, but that could be why my mom doesn't like to talk religion. I'm pretty good at reading people myself (I'd always have to read my mom and disabled sister to figure them out). I've actually been spooking a few of my friends recently about that. I've been helping them figure out what their daemon would be (after seeing the golden compass everyone's been trying to figure theirs out lol). I've been telling them a few things about themselves (attitude wise) that they didn't think anyone knew. So they're just like ...wow... I've always noticed stuff. As a child my mom called me eagle eyes. And at Easter she'd always have to struggle to hide my basket so I wouldn't find it in under a minute.
Samhain has to be my favorite as well. I celebrate it for three days straight. Staring on All Hallows Eve, and then El Dia De Muertoes (the Spanish tradition of the dead). Where the first of November the spirits of the grown ups come back to the home, and then the second the children come back.
I've heard about the green craft, but haven't looked into it. I really should get some more jars, but at the time I wasn't around a home depot. I should get some just in case now, while I am around it.

I gained my reading of people from my mom. I'm glad your sister had recovered from the cancer, and I hope she stays in remission. I have Hotchkin Disease in my family. I worry about my uncle, my moms last remaining brother, one had died of schizophrenia, and the other Hotchkins at a very young age, he was 26. Cancer is tough.
LOL. Well our spirit animals come in many forms, we can have ones from previous lives show up as well. The easiest way is to figure out what your favorite animal is, figure out the reasons why. You can ask your guides if you have a totem and then ask if the totem is a wolf or a bear or a cat and so on and so forth. With the hand trick. I have two so far, and they can come and go, but I prefer mine to hang around cause they are family to me. If they have to go then they must, still doesn't mean I'm not gonna try really really hard.
<-- Leo
HAHA
I found stuff pretty well myself. My mom could never hid things from me but then again she never really tried hard. If I wanted to find it she knew that I would stop at nothing to find it. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree with me.
I celebrate most of the holidays for 7 days, well I plan to. If I'm short on time I try to do a simple honoring on the day itself and then I'll look at another day when I have time. Its kinda uncommon but I got that idea from a few of my guides who have celtic background. Old.
Green craft is plant based mostly, it's simpler in many ways, less cermonial then wicca and it feels more natural to me. But it lacks in spiritual means so I augment druidism into mine when I can. If you can't find bottles use zip lock baggies and stick them in a container like an old coffee container. You can label them with the different attributes and what element they are. I do that.

Any disease is tough, but necessary these days with all the technological advances (in my opinion). The human body is frail, and we're messing with Darwin's "survival of the fittest" (I know a little cruel to say, and it's not that I want to get rid of people). It's just humans are a frail creature and some things we weren't meant to survive. I know if it wasn't for modern medicine I wouldn't be alive today (I had strep every other month till I was 13 basically). But sometimes, we have to stop and think about how far we're going.
Well my favorite animal is a raccoon, but I attribute that to the fact of that was one of the first dolls I received as a child (from my uncle) and it was instantly my favorite. I've had it ever since I can remember. Although the animal I most associate (and figure out it would be my daemon) is a red tailed Hawk.
7 days is a long time, but I can see where it be necessary.

No I agree with you, we will be the end of ourselves. Thats why I don't like to use medication a lot other then advil and cold pills. I think humans were meant to survive in some way shape or form, I could be wrong but I don't like what we are doing to our world. We hurt ourselves daily, and I think that people who are over weight like myself are brought up that way with all the different kinds of foods out there. I was lucky that I never had strep, I was a pretty healthy kid. Just a klutz... wait I still am.
Racoons are awesome. I also like mountain lions too. You probably have a totem of a racoon, check that out. I might have some info on them for ya, nothing too huge. I love hawks too.
Yah it is, I know that you can do any of the activities that are related for that holiday in that month or just prior. I think thats where the idea came from but I'm not really sure other then one of the guys mentioned it. I thought about it a bit deeply and decided to do so myself.

Yeah there's a lot of unnatural stuff we're doing, and we'll keep doing. People don't care what it does in the future as long as it does what they want right now. *rolls eyes* Silly people. My grandpa is 97 right now. Just did healthy living, farming for most of his life. Ate right and farming is a lot of exercise. That's the key, simple living.... and genetics. lol
I should look into that. There's always so much to do. (Look into totems). Interesting holiday Idea indeed... probably a good thing they brought it up to ya.

People are not connected as we use to be now. Everyone is so private, and running around without paying much attention to where they're feet are.
I wanna make a few grimores, one completely filled with totem information, spells regarding totems and so on.
