Wow... I was at Pilanesberg last March, and the most I saw of these guys was a solitary female up on a mountain, about 700m away.. Hope to go back one day

They always look so kind and gentle in my eyes for some reason. I like most of God's creations, if not all of them. Are they still poached for ivory?

They are magnificent.... Im quite scared of them though because they tend to flip cars over and Ive had a few close calls...its really not their fault though, many humans just dont respect them and crowd them at the game reserves and they really dont see so well so you can only guess how intimidated they are when they have tiny little babies in the herd. Unfortunately yes, they are still being poached. They are better off than the rhinos though

Ah, I hate to hear of poaching. It really makes me feel that it's unfortunate that I do not have the political power to put an end to it. I could imagine that an irritated elephant bull would be highly dangerous to be around.

Unfortunately its a very big thing here in Africa (and Asia)... it is sad indeed as I feel as though the battle is being lost... last count on Rhinos murdered this year in South Africa 158! Soon we will have none left
