Description
"I wouldn't dream of working on anything that didn't make my gut grumble or my heart want to explode." ([link] )I just felt I had to draw her; she is very beautiful, a talented actor and a person who seems to be true to herself... This drawing turned out to be more challenging than I had imagined and it didn't really ended up the way I wanted it to. But I've put a lot otime and effort into this drawing, so I thought I'd submit it now anyway and maybe make some changes later... But until then, tell me what you think.

I was suggested to remove the redish tones my scanner gave this drawing. So now it should look more like the pencil drawing it is

It's an old drawing now, but I guess that at the time I really wanted it to look as much as the photo itself as possible, and this drawing fails to look exactly like the photo.
However, I feel I did capture Kate's beauty. And I love the drawing even more for being my "interpretation" of the photo, rather than an exact copy.
But anyway, thank you for your comment. I'm glad you like my drawing

Intet er umuligt. Det krΓ¦ver selvfΓΈlgelig tid og en del tegninger fΓΈr man nΓ₯r op pΓ₯ det niveau af realisme man vil (eller et tilfredsstillende sted nΓ¦r det), men umuligt behΓΈves det ikke at vΓ¦re hvis man virkelig vil det. Og jeg kan da se at du er godt i gang!

This is brilliant. It looks like a GOOD photograph. I hope to pull off something like this some day. How long have you been doing portraits? Any formal training? What size is this? What kind of paper?

I think I've been doing portraits for about three or four years now, but I've always found them fascinating. I'm pretty much self taught when it comes to portraits, but I did take an art course a while after drawing this.
This drawing is about A4 size, though the paper itself is bigger. It's Windsor & Newton's Lana paper - smooth surfaced.

One day...I'll be able to do THAT. Amazing. You managed to perfectly blend the shades together without making the drawing look muddy in the least! and

When it comes to blending, I think the trick is to use very light pencil strokes... Well, that and a lot of paper tissues
